905R

The title says it all... go buy one now, it will change your life. Starting my 2nd full season with the same driver and couldn't imagine hitting anything else. The last 2 rounds have been mid season form... just killing it. My 2 buddies that were playing a cobra and 905T finally caved and bought the R in the off season and are hitting it longer and straighter than ever.

Anyone who's on the fence about a new driver, put this on your list to try. It's super cheap now too

Edit - Not sure why I posted this - just feeling sentimental I guess. Plus Titty gets no love

The New 907 D1 goes about 20 yards futher. We have a very good player at our club who has played for England and Lancashire. He holds our course record & he's been off single digit/plus handicap since he was 15, he's now mid 50's (still off 2). He's a Titleist Rep and has always used there equiptment. He's never been a long hitter, if he was he could have made it on tour because his wedge game is up there with the best. Anyhow he has just switched from the 905R to the 907 D1 and now for the 1st time in his life he is actually maninging to drive our 273 yard par 4. (he's been a member for 40+ years, btw).

So if you've got the bucks give the Titty D1 a go.

Thats the main issue with most of titleists drivers isnt it?? Also aren't their drivers meant to be not very forgiving on mishits?

Where have you been? Did you ever get your FT-5? And are you trading it for a 907D1?

Depends on the model and it is relative. The R is more forgiving than the S and T models but I still didn't find it all that forgiving. I had one for a while and when I was on, it was great...

I took the D1 out for a test spin once and it is actually quite forgiving. The thing just wanted to go straight. I didn't mind the geometry of the club at all either. For me, I coulnd't jusitfy the $400 when the SQ was hitting them just as straight and touch longer. I'll admit that the VS Proto in the D1 was a stiff flex and I probably should've been hitting a regular...

To get back to the R, it is a beautiful driver and was the first 460cc I could actually hit. The traditional look of the club is classic. If you're "on" more often than not then it is a driver that is definitely worth looking into; especially at current prices!

i bought the R and the ft-3 this spring. i have to say the R is probably the best driver i have ever hit. the ft-3 was nice but i didn't have the right feel for it. maybe the shaft or weighting or something. it just didn't do it for me. the R has been rock solid so far. lots of control and just enough workability.

When I get some more "mad money" later this summer I plan to get a 905R or maybe (if enough mad money) a 907D1. I have had the urge to try one in the past but something always sounds better. Right now though I'm trying to get my swing back to normal like it was last fall. But some shottalkers 'ho putters, some irons and some drivers. I have a deep fascination with drivers as most in here know.

Hi mate, my PC broke so I was off line for a while and went to Tenerife for a week with the family. Only been back on line a week or so. As for the FT5 apparently Callaway have a huge backlog of demand from the big discount stores so they haven't got enough heads to start filling the custom orders. I am thinking of canceling the order and getting either the 905R, D1 (although I've never been a massive titleist fan), SQ Sumo or HiBore Tour.

I'm as much a sucker for claims of longer and straighter as anyone, well, except maybe for Warbirdlover, but the USGA should be ashamed of itself for allowing these deformed monstrosities to be called golf clubs. I'm speaking of the square drivers and this Titleist 907D1. 460 cc heads are bad enough, but these things look like rejected Star Trek model spacecraft.

I'll consider a 905R if anyone thinks it is more than 10 yards longer than my 905T, but I really think I'd be just as happy playing the one I've got.

Prob not more than 10 yards longer, but definitely more forgiving.

Loved mine until the shaft broke the other week. But I must admit it wasn't love at 1st hit. I had a few FT3's before I found the right one. I always liked the look of them but the 1st couple just didn't click with me. (NVS & V2) It took me a while to adjust to the noise as it is completely different from everything else out there but once I found how well it worked with the ProLaunch (for me) I loved it.
