Shaft Query

Hi Guys,

Playing a TM R7 425 at the moment and hitting it really well but looking to maybe get some more distance out of the club and looking at replacing the stock shaft (S)... My swing speed is of the not visible to the naked eye category and I feel I might benefit from an increase in stiffness...now i'm based in ireland and don't have access to the lauch monitor etc that are standard in us stores....

Is it worth going to a custom fitting place where they charge just for an appointment and from your guys experiance what sort of shafts should I be looking at..

Going to a stiffer shaft will tend to decrease your distance.

"Not visible to the naked eye" doesn't mean anything. You should definitely get fitted by a pro. Spend a little to save a lot.

Thanks Eracer, I've always played stock stiff shafts so any advice is very welcome...I'm in the US in two weeks so might hold off and see if I can hit a few r7's with different shafts in golf galaxy or something

Wise choice. It only costs $30 or so to ship a club back to the UK via US Postal Service Parcel Post.

Sounds like your best bet to me. Nobody could even remotely make a recommendation based on the info you have here. Finding the right shaft has been very difficult for me and I know a lot about my swing and the shafts. Unfortunately I actually got steered in the wrong direction by the local shop after going on a launch monitor. They are saying softer, higher and I'm blowing it by with stiffer, lower.

as a complete novice to shafts apart from the stock fuji what ones should I look to demo..

I'm 5'11'' and change with long arms and legs and a fast swingspeed...will need a stiff as i've hit reg before and they were far to whippy

normally hitting about 270 and generally straight with the odd pull shot thrown in...very low ballflight at the moment but i'm teeing it really low too at the moment..i haven't changed anything in a year and maybe just want to change for the sake of it. but want to start working the ball a little more..and thinking a new shaft might make the club a little better ...not an expert in shafts etc so an advice is welcome...if i shouldn't change anything i won;t... i can bring you back one, over on business but should have some time to get to a golf store alright...

Yep I'm in dumfries south west Scotland. It looks like it would not be a bad deal if I gave you £40 you would make a couple of quid and I would get my shaft. Actually I'm probably interested in the same type of shaft as you, a lower launching one to get a little more distance and to keep the ball out of the wind.
