Quality of knock-offs?

Hello. I have been looking at upgrading my clubs, as I currently hit Ram Rhythms. I really cannot afford (according to my wife) to pay for the real deal right now, so I was looking at some knockoffs; namely the T7's - which are TaylorMade R7 knockoffs. Does anyone have an opinion on rather these are any good, or are the knockoffs just a farce? Thanks in advance. By the way, this is my first post, and I am around a 25 HCP.
Joey

Buy used before you buy knockoffs...and, don't ever buy knockoffs.

Also look into quality component clubs. They're not knockoffs, they're not OEM, but they are OEM quality or better at better prices.

Did I mention don't ever buy knockoffs? Ok, well if I didn't.....you get the idea.

Thanks for the responses. I am in the US. So when you say a good quality component club, do you have any suggestions?
Thanks,
Joey

Good quality components would be brands like Wishon, Geek, KZG, SMT, Maltby, Snake Eyes, etc

There's alot of stuff out there

Used OEM (TaylorMade, Titleist, Callaway, Cleveland, Adams, etc) would likely match up best price wise against the knock-offs

If there's a Golf Galaxy near you, look at their component heads. Maltby and Toski are good quality. You can also look for builders that use Wishon or KZG.

If you PM Lyle, he's a club builder in Canada who could give you some quality component clubs to look for...he knows a lot more about this than I do. Or, he'll probably post something here eventually.

Just search and research the difference between knockoffs and components. Then get fitted for components if you wish to save the money. My friend just got fitted for some outstanding Wishon irons from one of the top club fitters in Northern Jersey and only paid around $450. Compared to the $800 I just paid for my irons.

He is likely just as happy as I am, although I chose to spend the extra for the clubs I wanted. Personally, if it were a matter of saving more money than the cost of components I would buy used as I would find it highly unlikely you will get a good fit from knockoffs as opposed to a used set you can adjust.

... and this time around I think I'll stay out of the debate that is about to take place.

Excellent move, Rob.

Saved the guy some time, money, and frustration of learning the hard way.

If you run a search on knock offs, you will find some lenghty debates on the subject. There is no need to run down that road again. Take up Rob on his offer, one of the best deals that you will find.

That's a very generous offer! What's people's thoughts on the Adams Idea irons? I just bought an Adams RPM Redline Dual that was delivered today, and from what little I was able to hit with it so far I really like it.
Thanks,
Joey
