Book me into therapy...

Unbelieveable. I went to get the Limey put onto the TEE at lunchtime today. I even picked out a Bling Yellow Golf Pride grip. I know a pro quite well close to where I work. He doesn't specialise in shaft replacement (most just repairs etc.). Not may pros in Ireland do this in fact. I was worried about him trashing the NV shaft. But decided to go ahead anyway.

So anyway this guy agrees to do it this afternoon. I arrive back at 6pm tonight to pick it up. Successfully pulled NV shaft, new shaft put in, grip, excellent right?

The he looks sheepishly at me. In the process of taking off the shaft he fried the paint work on the crown of the head. A large blister on the crown need the face. AGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SO what the hell I am going to do now? I know this guy, I just had to swallow my pride, but now I'm thinking should I go back to him and get some sort of compensation? He doesn't really do this much, and he kinda put it back to me with a "what do you expect me to do". He said he applied a heat gun very sparingly but the TEE just melted up big time. He said TaylorMade and Titleist heads have never reacted that way.

The club is still playable but looks horrible. Any suggestions as to what I can do to get this fixed? And btw a sharpie is not the suggestion I am looking for.

Where is my therapist?

Take it to a painter, most can just sand it down, and repaint it. Will look good as new as long as they have some good pics of what you are after.

As far as the guy, the question must be asked.

Do you want him as your friend and to go back there, forgetting what happened, or do you want compensation for his mistake?

1- have the rest of the paint removed and have the head professionally painted by someone who is an expert at it, like an auto body painter.

2- do it yourself, using black gloss paint, an airbrush, 600 grit wet paper, rubbing compound and many coats

3- somehow manage to break the head, then send it to Tour Edge for replacement under their lifetime guarantee.

I think Doc is on to something. Maybe try e-mailing Tour Edge, see if they can't help you out. Explain the situation, maybe they'll come through.

Worst case scenario, you're stuck with a fried head.

If it's any consolation, I've pulled 3 shafts from two seperate TEE's and had ZERO problems. In fact, and Tim can vouch on this, those two pulls were the two best/easiest I have ever done.

I feel your pain!!! (And that paint shouldn't blister any faster then the paint on any other head. He just got in too much of a hurry).

Get a quote for the respray (if you can find somebody who will do it) and ask your friend the pro if he will go halves with you as a good will gesture.

BTW, Did he charge you full price for the shaft swap?

Both NV's from Rock's TEEs look factory fresh with the exception of the tip paint removal for shafting (every pulled shaft will have this as the epoxy does not bond well with the paint, you have to get down to the carbon layers in order for it to bond correctly with the hosel.) I can not vouch for what the heads look like, but the pulled shafts are in awesome condition for me to insert into some of my covey of drivers.

last year i bought a beat up sonartec fw for nothing and sanded the paint off it and played it naked. it was funny cause everyone thought it was a cheap knockoff club. i guess it just depends on what you like to look at.
