CG11 questions/help

My wife plays the Adams A2 ladies set which comes with a 44º PW and 55º SW. She wants a gap wedge and the ladies CG11's are down to $89 new. Is this a good beginner's wedge? She started playing last Thanksgiving and is already consistently shooting low 50's on 9...hits her irons well and likes her wedges.

And yes, her set is the pink set and the CG11 has the pink insert in the cavity...that's a plus to her, but not a requirement. That and the reduced cost combined make this wedge very attractive to her.

Any reason not to pick one up this weekend?

Thanks!

I'd say the first thing to try is to ask at the store if they can order you the matching GW for her set, which they should be able to do.

The CG11 is designed to be a little more forgiving than most wedges (even though I couldn't feel it myself) but won't be anywhere near as easy to hit as the rest of her set due to it's design, and might cause problems adjusting to the single club that feels nothing like the rest that she's playing.

I agree - I just looked up the a2 OS ladies gap wedge on one of the big sites - looks like it's only $75 and I think it'd be an easier transition with her existing PW and SW

If she'd be replacing the SW, and adding a gap wedge, that might be an easier transition, but I'd probably push her towards the matching gap wedge and use the money saved to by a putter

Where did you find the gap wedge? I've looked and never found it...that would be the best club for her.

I would have to wonder if she may think club feels awkward and light, or loose control by putting it in between 2 clubs (PW and SW) with a possible heavier swingweight, possibly compounded with a different overall weight. Hard to say though. If it were me, I would likely want one that either matched my SW or PW to seperate the line on the wedges. Then again, I play a Mizuno SW in between to Pings. Although the swingweight is the same, and the overall weight is relatively close. Plus I really don't use my LW for full swings. If I did, I may not have been happy with my decision to not match them up, and it did create a tougher transition on my chipping and pitching.
