Grafalloy

Generally do all Grafalloy shafts flay quite stiff?
The Prolaunch in my Hi-Bore can cope very well with a strong swing but tends to hit the ball high. So I was wondering if the Blue would play to a similar flex?
Anyone out there had experiences with either or both of these two shafts?
HELP I'm bored of the wind deciding how my drives turn out.

when I was demo-ing drivers and trying shafts, I thought the blue was of similar flex to the prolaunch, but felt kinda dead - I like the soft tip in the prolaunch

the launch is certainly lower than the prolaunch blue though -

I would bet if you go to a local shop and browse the used rack, you'll probably find something with a Blue in it that they'll let you demo - let us know how you make out

I had a G5 with ProLaunch blue and swung R35's Launcher with the Blue. the older blue is definitely stiffer and more "boardy" and lower launch - midflex vs. low flex. Both are stiff.

I've got PL Blue R's in an Adams driver and 2 Adams fairways and to me they play more like a firm than a regular. I've read that the PL's tend to be towards the stiff end of the flex.

Boardy is the word I was hoping someone would use.

"Dead" is what I'm looking for, unfortunatly I live in south west Scotland where they think fire is a new discovery and a fork is innovative technology, so theres no local shop for me to visit.

I have my eyes on a few things on E-bay, with the help of Manchester Golfer I think I have a cunning solution to my problems.
Thanks for the help and any other opinions of more ho's or experts would be appreciated.

I used to play a 10.5deg Launcher460 with the stock Fuji in Stiff, but was experiencing the "balloon" effect that is plagueing yourself.
After reading some comments on shaft characteristics on various sites/forums (mostly here lol), I was lucky enough to grab a Launcher, same loft, with a Grafalloy Blue in Stiff.
Now I'm no expert but I kind of like the way I can feel the shaft loading up during the swing and it feels much more stable and not "spongy" like the Fugi shaft.
Ball flight is a bit flatter and I feel it is more suited to windy conditions. I have had this driver for over 18 months now and am still happy with it.
As has been stated it will probably be possible to try out a second hander with these older shafts in them.
I am, however, jonesing for a Hi-Bore XL with Diamana Blue/VS Proto/Comp NT but that is just my inner ho trying to get the "next best thing in tech"
All of the above shafts will hit your Hi-Bore lower I believe, they are just not the cheapest option.

I don't find the Blue dead. I do find the PL very soft tho.

Get the best of both worlds and get a Comp NT. Blue tip, PL mid and nanofuse technology for consistency.

One man's shaft is another man's dead wood.

It's the same as recommending anything else, really.

Well said....

I still love my PL Blue in my 425 r7. Great combo and it does indeed play siffer than what the shaft is listed...an R will play like a Stiff and a Stiff like an XL etc.

But the great thing is that it is still very workable and a shaft that you can knockdown very reliably...this has been the most pleasant thing about mine.

Previously I used my Sonartec 3w from the tee a bunch, especially on short holes or tight holes...now I just choke up on the driver about an inch and hit a "9 o'clock - 3 o'clock' knockdown and I get good accuracy most of the time.

I think bore throughs make shafts play tip stiff, no matter what shaft you put in.

I was using one of those for a while in X flex. Liked it, although could have done with a heavier shaft. Defo worth checking out, though...plus it is bang up to date with shaft technology, whereas the other two aren't as much...

Many shafts are produced to play true to flex in a bore thru. This is why you have to tip them for standard bore.

If you're playing a standard bore shaft with an untipped shaft that is meant to be tipped, and you love it, you're playing the wrong flex altogether. It's not the shaft, it's the guy using it - incorrectly at that.
