300 Forged

I got that 300 Forged set in today. I'll take some pics tomorrow or something. I went and played with them right after work. They are a little beat up, compared to my Miura's anyway. The grooves are very good, like 8-8.5 but the heads have some chatter and a ding here and there. Largest one is on the PW, as big as the one on my Miura 7iron.

The only problem I see with this set is that I really, really like them. They seem more forgiving than my Miura's and just easier to swing. Could be the heavier shafts maybe? Anyway, prelimary results say they are about a half club shorter than the Miura's, maybe a little less than half. I pured the 4iron on the 200yd. par 3 and hit green. I hit this green with my Miura 5iron but today the markers were allll the way back.

Another consideration is how easy it will be to pick up a backup or newer single iron. Also I could easily substitute a blade PW in an MB or even a 9 as well. I'm actually planning to build this set to 1iron through wedge. Then if I feel like messing around I can do like 13* 3W and 1-PW.

I like the Rifle shafts but man are they fat. I never really noticed when I've hit Rifles in the shop too much but definitely a little weird. One thing I've noticed right off the bat is these baby's like to fade the ball. I hit some pretty sweet looking shots with them. As far as ballflight it seems slighty higher than the Miura's but not by much.

Yeah but I had to pay this time. I figure if they won't drop from $22 I'll just sneak/pay, sneak/pay to make up the difference. I'll just meet you at the hole in the fence on #3.

Nice pick-up on the irons, Ez. The local GS has some Forged 300s on the used shelf right now. They are pretty dinged up and some pretty good face wear but it's GS so they still want top dollar. (don't recall just exactly how much just remember thinking "damn, that's a lot...")

Very nice set of clubs, Golfworks in Ohio does a great job refinishing clubs if the desire crosses your mind. They do take a while, so it is a good winter project for them.

Nay, they are beaters. Kind of nice to not have to worry one bit about rocks and crap. I can always pick up another single in any iron for $25-$30. BTW - You wouldn't happen to have a 2 or 3iron kicking around in these? Heck, even a 1iron. That reminds me, I was bidding on a 1, have to go see if I won it.

So what's the best thing about hitting a 1iron off the tee?
I can't put a skymark in a 1iron. :laugh:

I do have a 2 iron, but I can't let it go it is the Satin finish Lehman grind. Not too many satin sets are out there.

Oh, ok. Yeah, you wouldn't want to break that set up. Keep me in mind if you do see any around though.

As I read Ez's post I thought of Ben Stiller's movie (can't remember exactly which one at the moment) where he goes off to the bushes to take a leak and gets busted by the cops with all the "couples" that came out of the long grass.

Real question though, are the 300s the clubs that Miura forged for TM? How do you tell the difference between Miura and non-Miura TMs?

Loft's and shaft length are the same. Difference IMO is in 2 things. A) heavier shafts, the Nippons are 105g's B) Cavity, the 300's are basically a full cavity while the Miura's are a split. Increased forgiveness has alway been equal to less distance on a pured shot in my experience.

Never get to old to try. I felt a tad dishonest but I sort of justify my own "rights and wrongs"... charging $22 for 1hr. 15min worth of daylight left to play is wrong. Therefor sneaking on 50% of the time and equalizing it to $11 is justified for me.

These are not forged by Miura as far as I know. The feel between these and the CB201's is much different. I flushed a few with the 300's and was like "that's it?" I've been spoiled by the Miura's.

Hey Ez, a guy over on golfwrx is selling a 300 set, 2-6 300s and 7-pw rac mbs.

You could probly ask him for just the 2-3, ppl are trying to get just the mb short irons from him already.
