Illegal Grip?

I recently picked up a cool chipping club from EBay ( I know, I know "real men" don't use chipping clubs), but I really like it and it is a big help since I am more often than not off the green. I have been using another chipping club for years...

This club has a grip like a putter (smooth and flat along one part). Is this okay? I thought I heard somewhere that only putters can have that kind of grip. It is the original grip that came with the club. It is a "chipper" club made by Northwestern - "Tom Weiskopf Tour Model"

I'm just a recreational player so no matter what I'll probably leave the grip on, but I'd just like to know...

Thanks!

nope, its legal...

but what would be illegal is if it has 2 faces... like an old SC bullseye, or a mini-golf putter... only putters are allowed to have 2 faces..
