New Putter Can't wait....

... for it to arrive.

I would have normally given this Ebayer a wide berth with his less than perfect feedback record. But this is the putter I've wanted since I decided to go back to a Broomstick/chest style putter. I'm using a Scotty Futura Long at the moment & I'm also waiting for a Scotty big Sur and a SXT Sync 2 to arrive, hopefully this week.

eBay.co.uk: Scotty Cameron Red X2 Long Putter 48 inches New!!! (item 190116000848 end time 27-May-07 02:00:00 BST)

I know a lot of you guys on here don't agree with belly or chest putters but I don't really care. I can practice for an hour+ with the Long putter and it doesn't hurt my back like using a short putter for that amount of time does & more importantly I hole a hell of a lot more putts from 12 feet and in with the Long putter which means I can be a lot more agressive with the longer putts and know if it goes 4ft past I will more than likely knock the one coming back in.

I don't think his feedback was too bad. But it seems a bit pricey (dear?).

Good exchange rate at the moment though. Can't find a 2nd hand one over here. I did see a new left hand one and that was going for £250 ($500) so £115 plus P&P I can handle that. Not many come up on Ebay and I've been out bid on the last 2 for the sake of £15 ($30). The only other one I can find on Ebay now is going for $375 but it now plus $58 P&P and it's a Sales Sample one.

eBay: RARE SCOTTY CAMERON RED X LONG PUTTER 48 SALES SAMPLE (item 270123750965 end time Jun-23-07 12:27:59 PDT)

My local non-chain golfshop has like three of these sitting in the shop and they're pretty sweet!

I think the final verdict on the long putters was "whatever gets it in the hole" for the every man but short only for the pros.

For the record, I like it!

edit: The first thing I would do would be to send it to the custom shop to get more sight lines added. I just can't stand single sight lines on the flange; I prefer two that frame the ball at address.

How much they going for in the shop? It may have been an idea to get a fellow ST'er to get hold of one for me and send it over here. too late now.

Man, I don't think I've ever looked at the price...

It's a good shop though and I've become a regular so they give me good prices when they can. I'm still kicking myself for not buying a SC Detour-Newport 2 they offered to me; it was lightly used (and I do mean lightly - the lettering wasn't "bright" white, an easy clean) and they were willing to "give" it to me for 200USD. That was a very bad ho'ing decision...

The best golfer at our club is 52 years old. Retired executive from The Golf Channel.

He and a 25 yo partner just won our state Four Ball Championship.

In an interclub tournament last week, he shot a 65 on a 6850 yard set up with a slope of 136.

Uses a belly putter and is awesome with it. No equipment is too expensive for him and this is what he uses.

I am seriously thinking of going with one...
