Finally broke down and ho'ed my second Baffler

Finally got my second Baffler. Never really cared for my 19* and 16* Halo's with graphite shafts. Since the beginning of the year I had been looking to trade them in for a 18* Baffler but didn't care to take a loss on the deal. Yesterday at Golfsmith they had the 18* with the Nippon Shaft in the used section, that looked like it had maybe been hit 5 times, marked at $99. Because the new ones are $99, I asked and they sold it to me for $59. Only got $70 for my two Halo's, but still got the club I wanted, for what I wanted and was just getting tired of the Halo's. Regripped the Baffler and it goes in the bag this morning in place of my 20* 7w which would give me about 5 yards more than any 19* Hybrid I hit. Should make a good fit.

Just to bad when I got the Halos I decided I wanted graphite. The Baffler was the favorite club in my bag but I absolutely hated the Aldila Shaft on the Baffler. That with the fact they only gap them 2* after the 20*. Could have saved some money. Live and Learn.

Although I am very fond of my 5w now, so am pretty happy with the bag for the time being.

Nice pick-up! The 18/23 combo is a good one and should give you good distance spread.

Good job getting GS to come down a few duckets. You can get some good buys off their used rack as long as you've done your homework and don't completely low ball them.

I like steel shafts in my hybrids. I have a Cobra Baffler Pro 2/R 18º with a Dynamic Gold S300 shaft. I am getting a Cobra Baffler Pro 3/R 20º with a Dynamic Gold S300 shaft to replace my 3 iron.

I like the feel and control I get with the steel shafts.

What is your yardage spread when comparing your ping 17* to your baffler 18*? I'm asking because I am interested in obtaining a baffler as well. Just can't decide between the 18* and the 20*.

Played the 18* today for the first time, and hit as well if not more reliable than the 23*. The 23* has always bought me about 185-190 yards. Although I do not hit the 17* 5w as reliable, for the most part I can get about 225. The 19* and the other similar lofted Hybrids got me about 5 yards less than the 20* G2 FW. For when I used the 18* today, I would say it is equal too or maybe a hair longer than the 20* 7W or about 210 yards. Although much more reliable. I can see it being my new go to club when I just want to make sure to get it in play. I also play alot of par 3's and narrow tee shots that play around 200-210 and was the reason I went for the 18* over the 20*, so it should buy me more GIR's on those.

On solid contact it seems to have a louder sound than the 23*. Really sounds good and lets you know when you hit the ball solid. Much better out of the rough than my FW's as well. Although this is only based on about 5-6 shots on the course.

edit 1 - For me, and based on my experience with hybrids I have hit, I seem to hit a Hybrid roughly equally to a FW of 2* more loft. So again, this is no disappointment in that sense that it plays like a 20* FW. I think it is all a matter of the longer shaft on the FW's
