Possibly getting geeked, need advice.

Well, the time has come that im realizing maybe a 8.5 degree driver with an x flex shaft probably isnt the best choice distance wise for me. Reading all these geek reveiws got me thunkin. I can either buy the head for $125, put my blueboard in it, or buy the head and use dicks gift cards to get a VS Proto and all the work done and spend about $160 total. Or, i can buy it for $239 with a vs proto, $199 with a limey or evolution. Whats the imput guys? Im thinking i wanna go with a 10.5*. I really would like to keep my r7 in tact, so that i can have one driver i take a nice smooth swing at, and one i can lay into. Meh, any ideas?

If you're currently bagging an 8.5*, get a handpicked 9.2* and get a UL780 in 250cpm. Great combo.

I swing at about 109, and had no issues hammering it. A friend who easily averages 320 off the tee, he was KILLING this thing. He's actually pretty ticked that I traded it away as he wanted to buy it.

I've never heard about a VS/DCT combo, but it sounds big.

Either one of those in S flex would easily be able to handle what you could throw at it.

No one, not even us club fitters can tell you for sure without seeing, fitting you.

Therefore it would be even crazier to get an approximate guesstimation without knowing your swing speed, tempo, swing plane, angle at impact, current stats, geographical location, handicap...etc.

Anyone who would dare offer advise without that information does not have your best interest in mind.

More information = more feedback.

The launch angle on these is low because of the low spin head (per LyleG). I got a 10.5º (actual 10.3º) and it is much lower launch then my 9º Rapture (actual 9º). Nice boring trajectory. The VS Proto in there is working wonders for me (250 cpm also like R35's). Best shaft I've ever hit (but haven't hit the Blueboard yet).

If R35 had put a VS Proto in his it would still be his gamer.

Not really trying to get an online fitting, I know most of my information. But, i'll humor you.

SS: 107-112
Swing plane: In to In
Natural flight: Draw or straight
Miss: Slice when i make a lateral shift instead of turning threw (happens when im trying to lay into one)
Handicap: This years is a 2.9 so far with only 31 rounds logged.
Location: Ohio
Frequency of play: 7 days a week, 9-27 holes a day depending.
Currently working on slowing my tempo down, and making a smooth transition, it used to be VIOLENT, think ezra with a little more control
From 150 i hit full 9 iron or soft 8.
from 200 i can stretch a 5 iron, usually hit 4.
Uh 5'10 190 lbs, longer arms.

I know i like my Blueboard, i know i like the VS, I havent hit a limey, just kind of trying to kick around the idea with some ho's that know about wasting money

Your info damn near mirrors mine, save the slice. My miss is a block.

Short of getting fitted, as Indacup points out, my best educated guess would be a 9*, handpicked, square face to 0.5* open. I had a UL780 in mine and it was a terror.

I traded it in favour of my current gamer, the FT-3 with a VS proto. I find it's more consistent, just not as long.

If you want distance, the VS and the UL780 are both great low spin combos for the DCT.

I've yet to hear of someone that is disappointed in the DCT. It's stupid long, looks great and just yeilds great results.

Same here,my handicap is 2.8,natural draw and swing at 112,can wind up to 115 but I'm on my toes up there,I'm hitting hard enough under 110.When I hammer the Geek I get a draw, that will be the shaft which I think plays less stiff than the usual stiff.Personally,I would not want anything less than the 10.5 in this head. Its probably tight ie measures less than 10.5 but it really is a great club for a hard hitter, you can get real distance from it due to the low spin.

On a personal basis if I was playing competetively I would probably change the shaft so I could hit harder and get less draw (I don't like these uncontrollable draws),I prefer my draws when I do them deliberately, not the club, but its just nit-picking,I love the shaft and get 270 carry with a controlled hard swing.

My bad shot is a block,I get ahead of the ball with hips that slide too far forward and then tilt rather than turn,so I block, this club is nowhere near as wild with my bad shot as the 905R and 425TP were, therefore I would describe it as a forgiving head compared to the other 'better' player heads.

I would also say this head really does need the right shaft,I got lucky because I got an all rounders shafts, plays medium stiff, medium tip and med launch,so its wasn't hard to like it,you might be different.

I also like a lowish tee, this head does as well.

So far all I know is that this Geek caries 5 yards further than my R7 and 905R,I know this becuase I've hit thousands of shots at my local range so can measure accurately
