New Putter Style Suggestions

I am currently playing with a Blade style putter but am having horrible distance control issues. I pick close to or the correct line but speed is horrible. Would a mallet help at all? Or is this something that needs to be practiced alot?

I've found that heavier putters help with stability on longer putts.

Mallets are usually pretty good for that.

if your lines are pretty good with your current putter, and you like it, stick with it - you might want to consider a little bit of backweight (slip a $2 clevis pin into the shaft under the grip)
if after practicing, things haven't improved, try a new putter for a while

Bear in mind, Heavy Putters aren't for everyone, you need to be able to handle it. Luckily for him, Warbird is ripped.

I love my Guerin Rife Two Bar Offset Blade putter. It has the face of a blade, but with the weight bars it feels more like a mallet. You can adjust the lie, and the weights.

I think it's all a matter of personal "feel". I bought a Cameron Futura Phantom and couldn't control the distance at all. Just a horrible putter for me. My current putter, a Cameron Futura Mallet, is pretty automatic as far as distance goes. Different putter altogether.

Spend some time testing putters at the local retailer. Work on a ladder drill and concentrate on distance control. You'l' find what works best for you.

I have the Rife blade and mallet. I didn't think it had enough weight for me - even with the heaviest ballasts in them.

If you want a good compromise of a mallet with a smaller profile, the Yes! Marilyn has that capability. It has a lot of weight to it compared to my Rifes (which I still have). I have been doing a lot better ever since I started using it.
