Callaway 3 wood, forget which but I absolutely ripped it
Nickent 19*, replace the TM Rescue with horrible draw bias
Titleist 755, 4-PW, TT DG superlite

These are my first new irons since the DCI 962s were new back in the 90s.

That's some serious upgrading going on there!

Looking forward to the pics. Ah hell, forget the pics; one of these days we'll hook up for a round and I'll check them out in person.

My new irons will be delivered this morning. I've played my DCI Golds for 14 years and am going with TaylorMade r7 XD's.

It's going to be a massive change for me. The clubs are 3-5 degrees stronger lofted than my old ones so all of my traditional yardages are going out the window. These clubs are also more offset than the Titleists and I am going to have to adjust to this. And I am going to need another wedge which I am going to pursue once I am certain that I like the clubs because I am going to have a 25 yard gap that needs to be filled.

Hopefully within six weeks I'll have it down.

I've got the same TM Rescue Mid with the draw bias you indicated - AND I am a right to left player, so I will be interested in your opinion of your new hybrid. I think mine has to go and I've got to get something neutral. The club is hard enough to control as it is...

I looked at those, but the difference was just too extreme. The 755s are only 1 degree stronger from 6-PW, so yardage-wise it won't be a huge adjustment.

Your biggest adjustment will probably be learning how to react to mishits that end up on the green anyway

I had narrowed it down to the Adams Idea and Nickent, chose the Nickent. I think it's not as neutral like the Adams but I hit it well. I may end up getting a 4-iron replacement as well.

Bravo - if you do start looking at a non-left hybrids make sure you demo the Bridgestone J33. It has a square set-up and is VERY solid. I chose their GC hybrid as I'm a left to right player (to a fault sometimes) and needed a little help to cut down on the shots lost to the right.

Cabin - Same thing to you, man. You should check out the J33 before buying another hybird. There's a shop over in HMB that sells the J33 Hybrid for next to nothing ($75 - new).

Thanks for the replies....I suspect:

1) My longest iron now is going to be a 5. It will take time to determine this. I am pretty confident that the TM r7XD 5 iron is going to give me 195. This is the most I can get from my 4 iron now.

2) I will look seriously at the Nickent as a 200-215 club and chunk the TM Rescue Mid. It's a Hooker and I've got to run from that stuff.

3) I may demo a lot of Wedges in the 48-49 degree range to fill the gap between my r7 PW and my Cleveland 54 gap.

I am one of the 'founders' of the ST and a Moderator and still am amazed how much I learn from everyone here.....

B

I can recommend with 100% certainty that you will not hook the J33 U

It also comes stock with your NV 85. It's the only club I know that 90% of the time I will hit it perfect

It's an amazing hybrid. I can hit it soft or hard, anywhere from 190-220 yards. Perfect little fade every time (I can draw it a little if I turn it over and swing softly maybe 1/10 times)

Try it, you will not be dissapointed.
