Back up set of irons

I currently have my old set of TM RAC OS II's knocking about and I am going to trade them for another set of irons in case anything happens to my Tittys.

I have had a look around and for the right money I have a shortlist.

Mizuno MP30

MacGregor 1025CM

Hogan Apex Edge Pro

Was keen on the MacGregors but I have heard that there are build quality issues with these. Heads flying off etc.

I would dive in on the Mizzys but thought I'd run it by you guys first - how easy are the MP30s to hit? I am fine with my current set and if they are in the same bracket as them then that would be fine. I haven't been able to hit any as they are a bit tricky to find locally. I have tried my friend's MX-23s though and liked them.

Any opinions and alternatives welcomed

The MX23s will be the closest to the RAC OS2s. The MP30s are a much more demanding club.

With that being said, clemsonhacker currently has a good back-up set of MP30s in the classifieds (I think they're still there, I haven't checked yet today).

I know what you mean, I bought the RACs 2 years ago when I got back into golf but changed last year to my Titleists as I was playing well enough to use them and I prefer forged to cast. The TMs helped me get back into it but I want a set that I could jump str8 into if my current gamers are damaged, stolen etc etc.

I just think that at current prices the MP30s get you a lot of club for your money.

The MP30's are in the same league as your Titty 690.cb's, a forged players cavity. The Mac's are sweet I had a set a few years ago & the build quality is superb imo. I never had any problems with them and I also play quite regular with a fella who has used them for about 4 years and to the best of my knolledge he has never had any problems either.

Both are quality sets imo.

I have a set of recently retired 1025cm's (played my first round with my Wishon 560's yesterday) that I was probably just going to trade in - I'll take some pictures and post them in the classifieds later

I agree with Manchester - both solid sets

I would still be playing the 1025's but unfortunately, the Rifle 6.0's in them are a bit too much for me (I went with R flex shafts tipped to firm in the wishons)

I used to play the 1025M and loved them. I kinda wish I still had them since they were so fun to play.

I found them easier to hit than the 30's which I owned for all of 4 weeks.

I'm in Massachusetts, USA - I've never sold any clubs before so I'm not sure what shipping would cost (I seem to buy plenty of them though)

If you've ever bought anything from Ez, I'm only 10-15 miles from him so that might give you an idea.

If you want to price it, my ZIP code is 02703 and I'd be happy to ship them anyway you want.

Anyone else know the cheapest way to ship clubs to Ireland? and any idea how much?

I've bought irons before and the companies generally charge 40-50 bucks for USPS international shipping...I'll try to check some website etc and let you know what price I can get....it may depend on the weight of the packaging...

Rick it would depend on the weight of the package, but for a 6 pound package its something some 45 bucks for express which is 3-5 days...

if you could let me know how much the package would weight I can get a more detailed costing

I can pack them up tonight and see what it weighs - any preference on grips? (I can't see them changing the weight a whole lot, but figured I'd ask...)

Hey Rick,

Did you get a chance to weigh the box?

I didn't weigh the box - my wife is 40 weeks pregnant and had me futzing around with baby stuff last night
She'll likely fall asleep on the couch tonight and hopefully I can sneak out into the garage for a while
