ADDING length to a driver for accuracy?

So I bought some dumpy TM R5 dual off of ebay because it had the shaft I wanted, which I plan to pull out. However, being such a hooker, I decided to turn a few tricks with it.

8/9 drives dead center, long long long!

The driver really feels heavy, and it appears to be an inch longer than mine, which would account for the heavier feeling. Mass x distance from CG and whatnot...

I don't really want to play it, because my launchers are sexier, and that's very important for shooting low scores. It DOES make me consider pulling my Launcher 460 back an inch. That extra length just makes it feel so much easier to swing for me...

Any comments? Was it just a fluke?

If it works then go for it. I wish I could get the benefits of a distance gain with a long shaft. I need to have it shorter to hit the center of the face more often. BTW, what loft in the R5 and how much for the head?

I hit the G5 Ping and Rapture Ping MUCH better then other drivers I've tried (Launcher Comp, Launcher, TEE, on and on) because Ping makes their drivers 3/4" over 45" standard length. I'm more consistent with it at that length for some reason. I'm 6'0" with short arms (long distance to ground from fingers) so that's probably why. It just feels right. That's why I had Lyle make the Geek that length.

If it works, heck ya.

I'm at 6'1" 6'2" and I've actually hit my driver better since I lengthened it. Of course, I also switched from the RE*AX to the ProtoNT, but whatever.

Well to answer the above, the shafts are the same minus the length issues.

And Ez: I really can't see you wanting this clubhead. It's beat pretty bad. The paintfil on the bottom appears to be gone, and not in the fashion of removing it methodically, but in the fashion of taking 15,000 off-the-deck shots from a beachfront. There's also a very noticeable dent/gauge about an inch away from the hosel.
