Lightbulb Vokey Spin Milled vs CG12

Please compare these two wedges. Which do you prefer? Why?

Couldn't vote because I don't like the weight of the Vokey, but have not swung the CG12. If the CG12 is comparable to any other Cleveland wedge I have used, and have demoed almost all of them, it would likely get my vote.

May be hard to find alot of people who have used the CG12 as it is fairly new. I'm sure you will find alot who have used the Vokey.

Lightbulb Vokey

Does anyone know if Vokey SM is coming out with 48, 50, 52 degrees as well? Swing weight of Vokey SM is D5 and CG12 or CG10 is D6 for sand wedge lofts.

I doubt it. A GW with that face would destroy the ball on a full swing. The regular Vokey GW puts plenty of spin on the ball with a good strike.

Absolutely 100% correct! The regular Vokeys put loads of spin on the ball anyway, and from what I can see the reason for the spin-milling is to add extra spin onto shorter shots played from bad lies - something people are unlikely to need in anything higher than a 54* wedge. I was hitting my 52* Vokey great yesterday and getting a Nike One Black to spin back on the green every time.

Vokey's are light! And there is no contest. Vokey's are the best I've ever used.

This is likely to be the way your responses go. As you can see there are plenty of people that like Vokey's. I on the other hand am a Cleveland wedge guy, I have never touched the CG12 but have a SW in CG10 black pearl. Its a solid performer and great feeling wedge. I would recommend any Cleveland wedge as I also have a Chrome 588 GW and LW that are both great as well.

I find that putters and wedges are very personal preference and honestly you wouldnt be going wrong with either one...

I didn’t like the Voleky SM at all it felt light and hard I haven’t even seen the cg12 but I do play the CG10 and it just feels a lot softer than the SM.

ok well in my setup i have the cg10 gap wedge and 56* and 60* s.m. vokeys and imho id have to say i like the vokeys a lot better seem to have a better feel for me and the cg10 just spins the ball way to much you can chunk the ball and still spin it back just not my cup pf tea, wheras i feel the vokeys to generate a great deal of spin but it is more predictable and if the new zip grooves spin the ball more than the cg10s which i think it is suppossed to (correct me if im wrong) id have to aim over the green to the next tee and watch the ball zip back onto the green i was going for! actually that does sound kind of fun....

I was messing around with the CG12 on the short game area at my course, not overly impressed with the Zip Grooves. Solid feel and nice weighting to them. I found that I get as much spin from the RAC TP wedges or the Cally X Tour with MD grooves.

find something that will allow you to control the spin and not destroy pro v1s.

Neither of these wedges fall into that category
