Thread: New putter in the stable! (Pics enclosed)

New putter in the stable! (Pics enclosed)

Having always been a fan of the smaller putter makers that consider the flatstick a work of art, I decided that it was time to go for one of these pieces. Mass production be damned! Now I don't have handmade money currently, so I went to a production piece that had the lines I wanted, the look, and the head weight. My search is now over, and it is now in my hands. Ladies and gentlemen, I introduce you to my new T.P. Mills Professional Softtail.

Thanks, she is a she. God didn't make men that beautiful. I wanted to show this putter for those of you out there thinking about Scotty but would like something heavier and with less circulation. The price on these is 50 bucks less than a Cameron, with a hand made look.

Just wanted to promote Jay at tpmillsputters.com. He responded to my questions very quickly, and hand picked this on for me. I wanted a heavier model, and since they vary slightly, he was able to pick out one with a little more head weight. It swings and rolls the ball like a dream!

  5. You're right, that totally looks homemade, err, handmade...

*Note, I'm absolutely joking. I really like the look of the TP Mills and think that is one classy looking putter! I also like the heavier head as well, although I prefer the plumber neck with a full shaft offset.

I'm not a Cameron convention goer but I do play a SC. I'm certainly not one to go "preach" the wonderful attributes of SC. They are nice putters and I really like the look and feel but there are a lot of equally nice (if not nicer) putters out there for the same (if not less) money.

I've only had the chance to check out a TP Mills on a couple of occasions and I would say they might actually qualify as both. You just don't see them in the shops around here. You also have to get pretty deep into the golf world (ie. belong to a couple of forums) before you really even hear anything about them and that's a shame.

It really is a lot like VT's new Slighter. By all accounts that is damn nice CUSTOM putter for marginally more than a now mass produced SC but only very few folks have even heard of Slighter.

Sorry, man. Like a lot of other folks on this forum, I have an account over at golfwrx. I'm not an active contributor there but I do like to browse the forum and they are CRAZY for Slighter over there. In fact, the only reason I had even heard of them prior to your posting is because I'm on there.

Anyway, Clugnut, I apologize for the threadjack; let's get the attention back on your new kick ass flat stick!!

I checked out the TP Mills website and it didn't list an offset value for this model; does it have any? I REALLY like the gloss/flat contrast on the flange; it looks like it frames a ball beautifully!

    agreed back to the softtail...

I love the gun blue finish on the TP Mills putters. My next one will be a black satin or gun blue

It's nice to see some more putter talk over here. I was convinced all anyone cared about here was the big dog.

Okay, I'm looking at the pics again and I just realized that this is a really stupid question. The offset is completely obvious in the last pic! I was caught up looking at the gloss/flat contrast on the flange; did I mention I really really like that?!

Chemboy, I was just goofing about the Cameron thing. Do they actually have conventions? Anyway, they don't have an offset value listed, and I asked about it when I bought it. Like everything on these, I was told that it is "about" 1/2 shaft. The one I have is more like 3/4 to full shaft. I wasn't sure if I liked that or not, but I haven't hit the ball with the hosel yet, so that's good. I am going through what happened to VT. I putted really well with my Yes! last round, but I want to bag this putter so badly!
