help me find clubs for my girl..

ok heres the deal.. my girl has never had a club in her hands until the last few weeks.. i take her to the range once a week and she uses my 9 iron to just to mess around.. her swing is still somewhat ugly but not as ugly as it started out.. shes actually starting to hit the ball about 60-70 yards with the 9 iron and now has been talking about wanting some clubs..

we went to academy and they had a set of RAM golf clubs for 200.. 1,3,5 wood.. 4 and 5 hybrid.. 6-sw irons.. putter and bag.. she liked them alot because they were black and pink and had black and pink graphite shafts.. now my question is, she is only 5 foot 2 inches tall.. i managed to force the driver out of the box and it seemed a little long for her.. how tall of a female is a "standard" set made for?

and to the next question.. would this be a decent set to start her out with? i've looked online for more of a bigger name brand set but they're all pretty expensive and she dont want to spend that much on a set until she gets more serious into golf..

any help is greatly appreciated.. thanks in advance

ok im speaking from experience. i bought my girl as full set from dicks to start her with. she is 5ft 3in tall and i had to get all the shafts cut down for her. IMHO the cheaper sets are no good. my girl hit them for a month until i got her a new set of name brand clubs. after that she hated the cheap set she broke two clubs do to cheap graphite. but if shes not sure she will stick with the sport then i guess that set would be fine.

Buy her a used set of name brand clubs at Global Golf or on E-Bay OR have a good clubmaker (like Lyle) make a set from components. Then it's worth getting them cut to the right length (if necessary) because she can play them for years. (A set made by a clubmaker would be the right length already). Irons don't change much over the years. A good set five years old will work every bit as well as a new set.

I was just about to say, "Ask Warbird, he plays Pings."

I am getting my girl (she is 5'2", a foot smaller than me) some Adams clubs for women. They are pretty nice, but not too expensive. I'll try and find them and post a link.

you think lyle would be able to do some for a decent price? she wants to have something decent but dont want to spend too much.. getting a set custom made for her would be cool.. i could have some of those black and pink winn grips put on there (she gets her jollies off to black and pink).. whats the best way to get in contact with lyle?

Got my girl a set of the Miscela clubs from Taylor Made, set is deigned to have consistent yardage gaps since often times women will have very small yardage gaps from one club to the next. Adams has sets that have fewer clubs, helps to eliminate some of the confusion of what club to hit, a very good thing for a beginner.

I got my wife a set of the ladies Adams A2OS irons the 2nd time...1st set was a cheap Ram set...she loves the Adams/hates the Rams.

No lessons yet, and she shot 52/47 yesterday for a 99...she just started in November! That was her first under 50 for 9 and her first under 100 for 18.

Go on ebay and get her Adams at a good price. You won't regret it.

We got my sister a set of Adams Idea hybrid irons on e-bay for about 200 bucks new. They come with a 3,4 hybrid and 5-pw with aldila graphite shafts. She is about 5”9 and fairly athletic so I thought senior flex would work good for her instead of getting womens clubs that are an inch shorter. We also got her a TM360 driver brand new for 70$ and it was a little too long so I pulled out the dewalt cutting wheel and cut off about an inch and ¼ and she hits it pretty good. I also gave her my old Volkey SM 56* and a ping b-60 that I had laying around that I got crazy with one winter and cut down to 32” and my brother gave her his old ping bag. So for about 280$ we got her set up pretty good

For something on the cheap you really can't go wrong with the older Lady King Cobra II. Great clubs and nice looking also.

My sister plays the Adams A2 OS, very nice set, and they seem to give her quite a bit of spin (if that is club related or not). My wife plays Nike Slingshots, and also seem to be a nice set. If money is a concern, Tommy ARmour Allegrettos can be had for 150 bucks for the irons and hybrids. All 3 sets look "cute", if that is of any concern.

I used to see them on Ebay earlier this year for that price when I was lookin for my wife, but I guess that price is long and gone. I dont see as much selection on ebay now as I did earlier in the year.

Have you checked out the component club side of things?

I am looking for a set for my wife also. She is just starting out and I want to get her something decent but not spend too much money because I don't know how much she will play. I have it narrowed down to two sets of Adams clubs.

The first set is the Adams Tight Lies.
Adams Womens Tight Lies Classic Woods/Irons Set

The 2nd is the Adams A2OS 7 piece set.
Adams Women's Idea a2 OS 7-Piece Set

Both sets are $400. I am leaning towards the full set instead of the 7pc. The full set of the A2OS are $800 so those are out of the picture.

Does anybody know anything about the Adams Tight Lies set?
