Thread: shafting questions

  1. shafting questions

ok so heres the deal snagged a graf bi-matrix proto of ebay (the pink one bubba uses) but the catch was it was a fw shaft. It is 44" raw and the instructions on the website are not to tip trim it . I figured I could use it as a driver shaft then bc the specs on the website were identical for the driver shaft and the fw shaft minus 2" and 3 grams. I was planning on putting it in a 905r head. NOW heres the problem, i dont mind it playing at 44" but i was thinking i could blind bore it and have it play like 45". The fuji pro 95 in my driver i was hoping to have pulled and put it my sonartec. should i blind bore it or do you guys think it would play 44" if it was bored through i definitely want to put the pro 95 in my sonartec tho. Anyone shottalkers around central IL that can do it? I would throw in the graf blue PL shaft in my sonartec too. there is still one chance for a clubmaker to do it but i went by the shop today and it was closed.

    1) should i bore thru or blind bore?
    2) how do u think it will play in the R
    3) anyone in central IL that can help me out?

That's alot of questions to swallow.

So, you want to blind bore a FW shaft into your driver? Is that what I'm getting out of this?

I have NO IDEA how that would play. None.

I say give it a go, see how it works.

  4. Yes you could do this. You need to ensure you have at least 1.25 inches of insertion however. The shaft should play like it would in a normal head. Blind boring the titty might be tough if you have never done it, but otherwise it will be fine.

  6. To my knowledge ALL Grafalloy shafts are intended to play at stated flex when installed thrubore.

So, if this shaft is installed blind bore or standard bore this shaft will be fine, but it will play softer than its stated flex. That is if it is an S flex it would play like an R flex if installed as standard bore or in between R and S flex if installed as blind bore.

If you wish you could install it in the driver as thrubore to play as its stated flex and then extend the shaft so the complete length will be 45".
