Ping Rapture irons

Was at Golfsmith and thought why not try a couple of ping irons (previously, I had stayed away from them, not sure hwy, probably from hearing all the negative stuff about them on this board relating to the whole discount to military personnel).

Tried a Ping Rapture 6 iron, standard. All I can say is WOW!!!

Must resist. My S9's are only a couple months old.

Ping products are super. I think the Rapture irons have a wider sole then the G5's and I5's but not sure. They have a titanium face that's supposed to make the ball jump off. They're big bucks. I'd try the G5 and i5 before I bought them... Might like them as well or better.

Agreed on the expensive part. I also tried the G5's but was hitting the Rapture's so much better. I'm still in the "SUPER game improvement" range.

What's nice about Golfsmith is you can custom order a set, so IF (keyword here) I were to order a set, I would most likely drop the 3 and 4 iron.

Sounds like a good "plan"!! Guess I'll have to try these someday but not soon. It takes me months to work into a new set of irons and I'm just now really hitting the G5's well.


Just checked the Ping site. These are exactly the same specs as the G5. Only difference is the composite (titanium face) design. Hmmmmmmmmm.

I just checked TGW.com. You can customize sets. I can get the raptures 5-PW for $750 plus $5 shipping. *drool*

I mean, do you guys actually use your 4 irons? I know I don't.

I've got a Rapture 2-iron steel shaft R flex. Standard black dot lie. I don't hit it as well as I did my Ping Eye 2 2-iron. If you're interested in it, make me an offer. I paid $125 for it new.
