    Newest Ho' testing new shafts

I guess I am now a Ho'! in the past month I have spent enough to make the wife not talk to me for awhile....but what she doesn't know won't hurt me lol. Anyways I did my own reshafting job and I just took them out for a test run. Man I love my new shafts and grips on my nike ignite's. I installed RP rifle flighted 6.5's on all my irons and put on some avon chamois jumbo grips. I used to hit fades and slices but today I was hitting straight and draws with an occasional slight fade which could be almost counted as a straight ball. I am not sure if the shafts caused the change in ball direction or the grips, or maybe i'm just having one of those days and tomorrow will be totally different lol. I hope today was not a fluke cause if I can hit the ball like I was today, every time I go out, I can see my scores will be lowering. I also installed Grafalloy Blue XS shafts in my 3w and my driver and it has helped with my slices too. I may have turned into a ho' but at least it was worth it lol

  2. nice, now just keep hitting it like that and your set will be complete right? I think we all know the answer to that.....

Uhhhhh......lol yeah my set will probably never be complete but for now it is good enough until my skill level gets better..... I think my next investment will be on a set of Cleveland or Titleist Vokey wedges. Haven't made up my mind on which one but hopefully the wife will get it for me for Christmas.

Congratulation on a well done job. It seems you are happy with the result.

As far as your change in ball flight is concerned, it is more likely to be the result of the new grips than the shaft, though it could be caused by the shaft or a combination of both.

Have you checked the size of your old grips and make the new grips the same size? If the current grip sizes are smaller than the old ones were then they would allow you to square the clubs easier at impact. Hence the new ball flight. If you have a grip size measuring device it is easy to check with that, if not you could use a caliper.

Either way, your old and new shafts may not have the same butt size, the grips installed on the old shafts may be different size from the new grips and the old shafts may have one or more layers of tape under the grips. These are just some possible explanations of how the old and new grip sizes could have ended up a different size, if in fact they did.

Thanks for the reply, I know my grip size has changed. But I installed jumbo grips where as my original grips were standard size grips. The new grips are much fatter. I also noticed that with these fatter grips, I am strengthening my right hand, turning it more to the left and this could possibly have started causing the draws. I notice that I picked up about 20 - 25 yards on my irons as well. Could it be because of the shaft? or maybe because the draw flight of the ball? I am not swinging nearly as hard as I used to either, and i'm getting much more distance. I am very happy with whatever the hell I did to my irons lol.
