Thread: Anyone use those crazy new tees?

  1. #16
I use the Zero Friction not because I buy into the gimmick, but because the things are indestructible. Someone gave my wife a few, and after I used the same one for about 2 rounds I was sold. I went out and bought a pack and thought they were expensive, until I realized I may never have to buy them again. I have never broken or lost one in about 30 rounds. I may have to pick up the shorter ones that I have seen by another name next time I see them, I believe they are the epoch's mentioned earlier.

I will never use the stingers again, used one for a round and it was too much of a PITA to keep the ball on the tee, plus the do break so I don't see the point.

  2. I don't know about reduced friction but I use Zero Friction tees because they don't break (easily) and I only have to carry a couple...

  3. I use zero friction as well. Some good reviews on them on the site last year, so I picked up a package. I have been using the same ZF tee since I bought them. From the initial purchase, I am only down 1 tee that I lost the first time I tried them at the range. Hit the ball and could not find the tee. The 2nd tee out of the pack has lasted all summer.

About the only performance change I have noticed is my ability to put the ball on the tee. If your tee is not level, your ball will fall off the 3 prongs.

The initial price is expensive compared to its wood counter parts, but a bag of 50 ZF's will outlast a bag of 1000 wood tees. The ZF's are also biodegradable and more environmentally friendly as they simply do not break leaving the tee box clutted with broken tees like the wood ones. The only downside to the ZF is that there are less broken wood tees on the par 3's to find and re-use.

I could see the ZF being difficult to put in the ground if your tee boxes are hard ground like Lyle complained about. They do bend a bit, but I have been fortunate enough not to run into any hard ground tee boxes so that has not been an issue for me, yet.

  4. whatever you do dont ever buy the wooden zero friction tees for drivers. They break after every single tee shot, and I mean EVERY single tee shot. They are the ones with a really small top and no prongs. I need to try the tees with prongs, I see them on the course all the time. I bought these strong wooden tees at walmart for 2 bucks 75 count and havent broken one in 3 rounds.

Used the brush tee's for awhile & the heights were just wrong for me.
Went back to wooden ones & am happy. I don't care if I break a tee on every drive, the things are dirt cheap.

I use wood tees. I bought 750 for 12 bucks. That's about 1.6 cents each - Canadian no less!

I will never, ever use a gimmick tee. Never. The idea of a brush tee for an iron completely defeats the purpose of a well struck iron shot. The ball is 1/2" off the ground, which means you're gonna sky the hell out of it by design.

Don't get me started on the Check Go. Some of you know my feelings on this POS already.

  7. I usually just have my friend lay down with the golf ball sitting on his lips.

As long as I don't forget the morphine or the chapstick, he usually ends up fine...

You're obviously not taking a proper divot. See if you can't work that out at the range with him.

Brush tees I use only at a driving range because it's easier using that than bending over after every shot to pick up the tee, replant it and retee the ball up.

Brush Tee you simply pinch the ball between your foot and club and place it on the brush.

For actual play, I'm a "Stinger Guy" 12 bucks for a thousand and they're very durable (and double great as tooth picks!).

The ZF's and ESPECIALLY the Epoch get brittle under 40° and I play all year round, even in freezing temps and they are simply impractical in cold conditions.

Yeah, we know Rock. It is much more important to have your tee customized with your name so you will not get into arguments when someone tries to steal you beloved wooden golf tee.

You really going to try and convince us that is not "Gimmicky"

edit 1 - ... ah yes, no gimmick here

I don't for one second think that it brings anything to my game tho. Not "durability" like some are saying. It's a FREAKING GOLF TEE! LOL.

I would have been, but I'm a mod here. I let my feelings be known to quite a ruckus. I'll try and dig that up, but it always gets me pissed off to no end whenever I read it.

And if someone brings up the epsom salts thing again, I'm going postal.

Hey R, how hard are you working on finding me a "solution" to my swing problem?

  15. i use the zaro friction tees and they have added 150yds to my drive.just kidding.

i use them for pretty much the same reason everybody else mentioned.they are durable as hell.i bought a box a yr ago and still have most of them left.

a freind of mine was using the brush tees last friday.i didnt try them but he likes them because he just took up the game last yr and they gave him a consistant ball hieght.so its one less thing for him to worry about on the tee.
