Launch Monitor

can the LM be wrong. i just got the creation demo and took it to the pro shop. i was all over the place on the monitor so i decided to take it out to the range and play a quick 9.

first off this shaft is stiffer then any shaft i have ever used. so i started at the range hitting the SW just losing up and worked my way to the driver. the first few where OK but when i really tried to go for it this thing just launched the ball. for some reason it just looks like the ball is stuck in the air and you think "well" when it comes down you will get no roll out. Wrong it rolled out an average of 10yds id say.

i played 9 battling it against the stock burner TP. the creation averaged 5-8 yards pass the burner. the thing that got me was i could not hit the creation to the right at all (i fight a slice). it was ether a nice 5-10 yard draw or straight. the last driver hole is 364yd slight up hill par four and i usually stay just pass the 100yd marker. so i hit the burner first and it was just in front of the 100yd marker about five yds or so. then it was time to hit the creation so i aim it same place as i did the burner a group of big pines well past my usual distance and let it rip. the ball took off and just stayed in the air. i lost sight of the ball, it was really hazy (humid) today. then i heard the ball hit in the trees. so when i went up the ball was in the trees about 50 or less yards from the green. I didn't believe that it was going to go that far.

so far it looks like as long as I swing like hell and don't baby the creation it is long and straight. i`d like to see what it would do in the burner TP head verses the nakashima head its in now.

people often claim that the launch monitor at work is off...."there's no way thats right...." blah blah.... its like they wonder why their 95mph swing isn't producting 300 yard drives like they're "accustomed to"

my favorite thing is when i get someone like this....i always take a club out saying "let me make sure its calibrated correctly" and then i hit my 114 mph ss or so with a 290 carry or around those parts and turn and look them in the eye..."it may be reading them a little short today...." always get some of the best facial expressions ever when i pull that.

the monitor has shorted me a couple times, but i'd say it does pretty good for the majority of the time. i still advise everyone who buys clubs from me to tape them up when they hit them for the first couple sessions just in case the monitor was off so that we'll take the returns more easily

It is a freak of nature. I have had mine now for about a month and have seen my handicap go down about 4 shots. At least 2-3 of those and maybe all 4 are because my misses are in play. I am thinking of ordering another Creation just to have as a backup. (it's the Cult of Hoing around here)

Anyway there seems to be a minimum SS to make the shaft kick/work. I am guessing around 105, maybe 108. So for some guys that's ripping, others it's smoothing. Whatever it is, it is awesome!

maybe i swing different at the store then i do outside. Ive always been told not to play indoors as a kid. so it feels weird to swing in the store some.

Yeah, I get a kick when some kid in his 30's wearing a Bud tee shirt tells me he needs a low loft, XX stiff shaft to contain hi 115-120 swing speed....then we slip "Mr. Hulk" on the monitor and find him in the upper 90's.

Actually, the most rewarding times for me ae when we get a nice, kindly senior player who says he's getting older and slower...figures his swing speed is around mi 70's...but steps up to the box and find him upper 80's.

Reason (most often) for the misconception on both types of players is because the stud is gripping tight and forcing the swing with his muscles...whereas Gramps has given up on strength, learned to hit smooth, effortless swing and thereby gains swing speed.

Well put. I am still trying to convince myself / remind myself to maintain a nice smooth swing and the clubhead speed will take care of itself. Too many times I try to swing out of my shoes.

a pro told me as a kid to swing the club fast, not hard

im not saying the LM was off as far as SS just the shot shape. i was to the right to the left couple down the middle. then at the golf course it was totally different. no right at all and nice draw most of the time and i never hit a draw. i love that shot.
