Burner TP first impressions

Well I played last night with the Burner tp for the first time. It is LH, 9.5* and has the TP 50g shaft.

LOOKS: I have to admit this thing looks freaking great in person. That burner head is really sharp outside. Big, yet pleasing, just looks very easy to hit. The shaft, with the light grey almost white butt section and black mid and tip look great as well. A real looker top to bottom.

FEEL: I was surprised how good this head felt. I have hit most of the Taylormade recent driver offerings and with the exception of the R510tp most have felt anywhere from "like shit" to "OK". The R510tp feeling great. Well the burner tp feels pretty much the same as the R510tp. Sound is good as well, a nice solid "crack" at impact. No annoying ding, ting, bing or what ever sound some of the new heads make.

PERFORMANCE: Again I have to say I was very surprised. The ball rockets off the face of this thing, climbs and goes. The club felt very light, and even though I couldn't really feel the head throughout the swing making solid center face contact didn't seem to be a problem. I fully expected to have major control issues with a super light weight head and shaft combo, especially at 45.75 inches, but this just wasn't the case. For a 50g shaft it felt extremely stable and seemed to handle even my hardest swats. Mind you I have been hitting the driver like a champ for the last 2 months so that for sure helped. Length was very, very good, right on par with my gamer, and longer on a few of the down wind holes thanks to a bit of added height. I would play this club without hesitation and easily call it the best TM offering I have hit.

I bought this head with the intention of sticking the BB solutions shaft I have in it, but I think I am going to stick that shaft in another head now as I like this stick just the way it is. It isnt about to knock the gamer out of the bag, but it will be a fun stick to rotate through the bag when the gamer gets "cheeky", or when I am hung over to beat all hell and the 80g creation simply feels too heavy.

Great review Lyle.

I still think almost all TM products are good stuff.

Great review Lyle.

Still waiting for the epoxy to dry on my 9.5* TP (reshafted with Blueboard 63 s flex). Can't wait.

I had the 65g stock TP shaft codesigned by GD. Great shaft but I felt like the tip was a little too stiff for me.

Installed an Accuflex Evol. Lite (S flex) and found the shaft to be extremely whippy.

Now the Blueboard, hopefully, this is the one.

I have this club sitting around. It is 8.5* though. It has a Penley shaft in it and I absolutley can't make any contact with it. I blame it more on the shaft, as like Lyle said, when the clubhead is stroked, it feels pretty darn nice. Great look and great sound. Even with the inferior shaft I outdrove my Exotics ONE time.

I have an Ion Creation sitting around also. Maybe I'll put the two together and see what happens. I haven't liked the creation in anything I've put it in yet as it's just too much shaft for me thus far. Maybe with the lighter TM head. Something to do tomorrow I guess...

I like mine. I did replace the shaft though. I prefer it to the Superquad and pulled my R7 425 TP out of the bag for the Burner. Good choice. I did find the 50 gram shaft and the 65 gram shafts to whippy which is why I put the Speeder 757 in. But that shaft fits my swing and may not be the best for everyone.
