Scotty refurb question

Hi guys,

Got my scotty studio design 1.5 and its great to putt with but in very used condition and want to get it refurbed over the winter...question i have is that the studio designs are in the black pearl finish and in an ideal world i'd rather a newport style steel finish on the putter...is this possible or will the studio just refurb the putter to its original finish

Scotty will refinish a putter in its original finish or finish it in Pro Platinum for $30 more.

It somewhere near San Diego, CA. Kind of a secret location so Scotty does not get too many visitors. Putters are received at a different facility rather than his studio and then moved locally to the studio.

I got through about 5 months of the "no new club" thing before I broke down and fell off the wagon. Once a Ho always a Ho.

Scotty will not resto a blackpearl, he'll put the charcoal mist finish on a SD 1.5.

Shipping costs back over the big water from Scotty will be a killer. The way collectors handle that is to get a friend in the states to act as an intermediary.

Another alternative is to get it sent to Titleist over here by a Titleist dealer over there, you'll get a Titleist refinish not a Scotty restore (with all the options), but on a SD 1.5, that might get the same people to work on it for a lot less money (I think that'll work - but no guarantees.). If you do this, get clear info about mill marks, you don't want a smooth faced SD 1.5.

Tom Slighter
Kevin Colbert

I've not had any done by Slighter, but BOS for oilcan or gunblue/black oxide, and Kevin for pro-plat is a sure winner. They cost a lot less also. I don't think they'll do a black pearl finish either, and I don't know who does. If the steel needs work, the prep must be done before BOS gets it.

FYI, I think BOS does the finishes for lots of people. They used to do it for Scotty and may do it again (Oilcan), but it's an totally unsubstantiated rumor.
