Taylormade r7 for 2008 - Shot Talk

Does anyone know if TM will be releasing a version of the R7 for 2008? I called TM customer service. The rep didn't seem to know if they would be releasing a new one or not an djust said the 2008 equpiment isn't out yet (no kidding). I ask because I want to buy a TM r7 superquad. However, if a new R7 is coming out, the $400 superquad should be going down in price. If I can save some cash by waiting a couple months to buy one (usually after anew club is released, older models drop in price), I will.

There is always something.. it might be like a burner with 2 weights " being like the 460 " they are always going to squeeze a dollar.

A new triangular shaped driver will be released, the r7 CGB Max, it will have three weights and retail at $500. There will also be a matching fairway wood.

They already had an r7 CGB iron out, the new one is replacing that one, just happens to fit into the line. The Burner XD irons are replacing the r7 XD irons to go with that line of woods.

They're not too bad looking, but they are very large and have a good amount of offset. They are jacked as well.

The only TM Iron that actually is decent in the aesthetics department is the RAC TP MB, the rest are...meh.

All of the TP irons are decent looking, the ugliest of the bunch is the r7 TP iron.

The 2005 RAC TP irons have the same footprint as the TP MB irons, they set up nicely, especially in the satin finish that I have on mine. The original RAC MB irons had a nice look to them, just didn't like the chrome finish.

Agreed with the old Racs' i liked them alot... But whats the Deal with Burner XD?? I never knew what XD stood forr? eXtra Distance???

It started with the 540 XD and it does stand loosely for extra distance. It refers to anything with the inverted cone design on the back of the face that began in TM drivers. It is supposed to increase the ball speed on a larger area of the face, kind of like the milled rhombus in Cobra drivers and the new hyperbolic face on the Callaway Hyper X that is coming out. Taylor Made put it into their irons starting with the r7 XD irons and then the r7 line and so on through the Burner XD irons.
