Thinking bout a Scotty

Well I am considering selling my Odyssey and buying an American Classic. No clue as to which design yet but that can be determined later. Anyone here ever used an american classic? I love the nice simple look of it. Any feedback would be greatly appriceated. Im not much of a putter ho either

Never used an American classic as I've never been prepared to shell out the bucks for a Scotty, but yesterday I played with a guy who had a Scotty with the same design as my TearDrop 41Select (he told me they are both copied from the original Anser), and when I had a hit with it I can honestly say mine had better feel.

Considering I got mine near new for less than a third of the price of a Scotty, I would suggest you thnk very carefully before going for a Scotty. Unless of course it's as much about looks than performance as I'll admit nothing looks better than a Scotty.

Buying a Scotty is like getting the clap. Somehow you don't think you'll get it, but it seems infectous, and once you've got it. Well, you realize it's not so bad.

Lol Jeff, those were my first thoughts exactly! Kinda weird that you knew that though, lol. Yeh Im a bad enough putter that it is more about looks than performance. Its not gonna do worse than my Odyssey. I putt the same with an Acuity as I do with an Odyssey or a Scotty.

Save some money and find an old, original Acushnet Bullseye on ebay or at a golf shop in decent shape. This is the original that the American Classic copied. They're easy to find and cheap. I played one for 20+ years and still use it occasionally...original grip and all.

As one of the Scotty HO's on the board that's probably one of the best descriptions I've heard.

I have an American Classic III flange. I love the simple looks with the nice high round toe & the thin front to back profile. My main fault when putting is that if my stroke is a little off and I don't take the putter away straight back, I find that my eye follows the putter. I find with the shallow front to back profile of the Classic that the wobbly take away doesn't catch my eye, so I keep my head still and give myself half a chance. The only real fault with it is it's a little light if i was to get one again I'd get the 33" Heavy Flange model. BTW if you get one make sure it has the original leather grip as they feel superb.

Scotty Cameron

Just a word of warning, once you get into the scotty's you become addicted. I started off with the basic model Scotty's before splashing out for a limited edition Del Mar 3.5 inspired by Sergio which set me back £211 ($422usd) and now I'm after a Napa which aren't cheap!!! (the classic is my winter putter for now)

I love mine. I have the 33" heavy model. It feels great. at first I had to watch the take away, but once I got comfortable it has been great.

I don't know MG, I like the look of that 3.5 more than the Napa.
