I dont really know, but how hard is it to re-grip a club? And how do you do it?

Golfworks and Golfsmith other than Ebay. Sometimes you can find decent deals on Ebay but the shipping is usually a deal killer. Ordering enough for free shipping on Golfsmith is usually cheaper. I got a set of cords for irons in the Classifieds if you're interested. I just want to get more cash into Paypal.

I think Lyle distributes the sharpros too - since he's a sponsor now, you might want to reach out to him

I bought a set of PING i3 grips (mid-size) half-cords for about $16. shipping was $12. You can find good deals on grips. I bought these from 3ballsgolf.

Does anyone know of people selling counterfeit grips? A local fitter (who fitted me for my PING irons) will regrip a club for $2.

Probably not counterfeit, but I don't know. You can buy standard grips for about $1, or even less if you buy bulk. Although you can also end up spending around $6.50-$7 for a single grip on some of the better grips like the multicompound or Full Cord. Midsized grips also tend to run a little more.

I'm guessing the guy just got a good deal on some of the less expensive grips and is simply returning the saving to the customers in the sense of getting future business.

Now if he were regripping the Multicompounds for $2 a grip, I might start to wonder.

A couple examples, .78 cents on sale or .99 cents normal. Actually I think Golfsmith regrips for just the price of the grip. So you could likely get these done for 1/2 that $2 you mention.

... but personally I'll stick to the Midsized Tour Wrap Full cords that cost me about $6 a grip, and I don't let anyone else regrip my clubs, even if free as part of the cost of the grip. I would probably go through about 5 of those others in the time I go through one of mine. I too am looking to try and pick up about 30-50 of these next time I buy to save a little money maybe.

While tempted at that price, I would both have to give up the Full Cord that I prefer over the entire grip, as well as having to either give up the Wrap that I prefer, or grip the wrap models with 3 layers of tape to get the Midsize as they only come in standard, which is a royal PITA and enough in it self to make me spend the money. Even on the Midsized in the non-wrap style, they only come in 1/32 or 1/8, not 1/16. Plus I would lose about 6-12 grams of weight, which I am not sure how that would affect my game.

Seems like an awful lot to give up, or try and adapt to for the sake of saving a few bucks a year. Although if I already preferred the Multicompounds, I would likely consider. Kinda fits into the component club theory. While I am sure they are great, and you will save some money, they are not specifically what I want or what I am used to, so the money saved is not really that great if I don't have the same confidence in the clubs.

Where's the best place? For you?

You probably should just go to Martin's and buy them and have them do it...installation is free. I get grips at cost and have the facilities to do them myself and still use Martin's. I'm lazy.

Sharpo does indeed make an awesome grip.

Tour Velvets are about $4.00. Can't go wrong, dude. They're the stock grip of Titleist clubs and most pros and players won't use anything else (IMHO and from what I've seen).

For a great small shop for your shaft and club work? Bogeys to Birdies...small plaza between Martin's and Trot on the same side of 17...right near NMB Golf Shoe Centers.

HTH...

Understandable. So do we.

It's like doing your own oil change or brake pads...or control arms. I *can* do it. I got the tools, facilities and talent. I got the technology.

I got a Leatherman multi-tool. What else does one need?

Answer? A good clubmaker and mechanic that charges me for not chopping off my freakin' finger.
