Illegal grooves

Based on what I have read, the USGA plans to make square-groove irons non-conforming in 2009. I just spoke to a PING rep and he said the PINg clubs will all still be conforming. I wondered because I just bought a set of Rapture irons. H esaid something about the radius edge u grooves PING uses makes them conforming (and will allow them to continue to be conforming). Does anyone know any more about this?

Last I heard on this, they planned to grandfather clause the rule to clubs made after the time they are made illegal. So existing clubs would still be legal.

Although this was early in the year.

I think it was like a 10 year period right? and i think it said the rules applied to "elite" competition first or something

this is the best write-up explaining the groove radius thing I've seen
