Lie angle help

Which way is up?

I hit a set of CCI Forged in the shop. Used impact tape on the 8iron. A dozen shots, one mark, slightly inside of center. With my Miura's I usually hit outside of center slightly. Lie angles on the CCI's progress from 64PW and Miura's 62.5PW. Which one is up and which flatter?

Also would this be the main reason I hit one inside and one outside?

62.5

I believe 62.5 is down about 1.5 degrees from most std pw 64 is about the std on pw.

So 62.5 is flatter than 64? I'd have to get mine bent upright to get to 64* if it is in fact at 62.5?

are the lofts comprable? I mean, should you really be comparing the lie angle of the Miura PW to the CCI 9 iron? (no idea, just throwing it out there)

how about length? same?

The Nike's are the same lofts standard as the Miura's. The Miura's an inch long of Japan specs, not sure how that compares to Nike's.

Basically all I want to know is if 64* is flatter than say 58* or more upright. It's obvious whatever the direction the Nike's were to the Miura's is the one I need to go.... before I fly off the handle and trade the Miura's for CCi's.

When the number is lower, the lie is flatter and put the toe down more. When it is higher it is upright and puts the toe up more. Toe shots usually indicate that you are hitting a club that is too upright for you because on your downswing the toe of the club goes down, if I am correct that is. I could be completely wrong in remembering this stuff.

The way I like to remember how the lie angle number works, is that if the lie was 90 degrees, the club would be straigght up perpendicular. So, the lower the number, the farther away from perpendicular, all the way down to 0 which would be flat.

Impact on the toe side of center indicates a club that is too flat and generally will lead to a fade/slice since the toe will dig in more, pushing the face open.

When hitting the Miuras, stand closer to the ball.

I think the Miuras were flatter, but I may be wrong.

This is it, quite simply.

Most wedges are around 64* most drivers around 58*, give or take. Do the math, a driver has a flatter lie. This should tell you something else Ez, it is also dependent on the length of the shaft on which is correct. Do both clubs have the same length shaft? So in the case of what you mention, since you only have the degree of one club, they could both conceivably have the same lie and with the longer shaft on the 8i, it would play more upright or to the heel with the impact tape in comparison to the PW, as you mentioned.

I would go to a Professional clubfitter with both sets and have a fitting done. If the flex is in anyway different then you may need a different setup / set.
What does your ball flight tell you?
Are you straight at target? Which set?
Ball flight is god, not impact stickers.
You should look at True Length Technology before randomly adjusting sets as the problem may not be just lie, but could also be length.
The 2 go hand in hand and must be correct for every club.

Actually this is a myth. With a club that is too flat, the face will be open at the point of impact, even if the club doesn't make contact with the ground. The same holds true for a lie angle that is too upright, the club will be closed at impact even without ground contact.
