Bought mine this year with 2005 copyright, and also do not see where it is lacking in being up to date with current technology. He even address what he saw as the direction of the future.

Harvey Penick's Little Red Book is something every golfer ought to own, if you don't already.

I also find the Golf Digest book 'Breaking 100, 90, 80' a very good book, in that it's full of little tips for different skill levels, is great if you just want to browse through something, and is a really useful reference tool if you have something go wrong during a round that you want ideas on, or just to give you some drills or new ways to look at things.

Well I told her to see the Club Pro, But she said 'n-n-n-n-n-no'
Have you tried the overlap grips? Yeah - but still she got the Yips..."

  8. I will say it now. Stan Utley is a genius. I bought and read his "The Art of the Short Game" and he instantly, without ANY practice mind you, turned me into a competent chipper.

First off, I got my index down to 1.8 this year. So you would assume that I can get up and down right? Nope. Never. I have to hit 16 greens to have a chance to shoot low 70's. I have always been totally lacking in my short game.

Early this fall I bought and read Utley's book. I have NEVER chipped in as many times as I have this fall. I have had so many tap-in pars and birdies that I feel that I am cheating.

His approach to chipping/pitching is so TOTALLY different than Dave Pelz's Short Game Bible that it is night and day. I love Pelz, and I love that bible. But the Short Game Bible never made any kind of meaningful impact on my scores. Ever.

With Utley's book, I have yet to even go to the practice green to try and "practice" what he's teaching. I have only used his short game teachings during rounds of golf, and the results (with ZERO extra practice) are stunning.

If I was struggling AT ALL with my putting, I would not hesitate to buy his book about putting after seeing what a difference he made in my short game. Instantly.

    To the OP...

Of course Rotella's "Golf is not a Game of Perfect" needs to be read and will answer all your questions about preparation, visualization, preshot routine, course management etc. etc. etc. It truly is the book people need to read if they actually want to get better, instead of just SAYING they want to get better.

Also, Wishon has out the "Search for the Perfect Driver". If you are interested in all you need to know about being fitted for a driver, this book is for you.

    I would second:
Rotella's "Golf is not a Game of Perfect"
    Penick's "Little Red Book"
and add Pelz "Short Game Bible" that was mentioned as well as
Hogan's "Five Lessons: The Modern Fundamentals of golf"

Likely in the order of Hogan, Rotella, Penick, then Pelz. Although I would possibly say I found more value in the Rotella book on how it helped my game, even more than Hogan.

I picked up Penicks on an audio book cassette about 6 months ago that also include the Green book, on clearance at Barnes and Noble for around $5. I already owned the books, but couldn't pass that deal up.

They are a little redundant, but all of Penick's books are good. I think I've got 3 of them.
