  1. Dumb Question about scuff's on the face.....

Hi all, first post, so bare with me if this is a completely assnine question. I just got a new set of irons (TaylorMade RAC HT's) and have hit them at the range a few times before hitting the linx again. I'm between a 10-15 handicap and have a question. Why do I get scuffs on the face of my irons. It seems to be in the sweet spot so I am hitting the balls good, but is this nrmal or am I doing something to cause these. If this is the stupidest question you've ever hear forgive me, I was just wondering.....

If you look at the club faces of the pro's, they will all be tarnished on the sweet spot - constant whacking off the sweet spot, 100's and 100's of balls, time and time again, day after day...marking the club face in the same area...

when you say 'scuffs', is this the sort of effect you mean? how many balls you hitting??

Also, if the scuffs are small dings/scratches...odds are the balls may have a bit of dust/dirt on them, if it's anything like my range.

  4. If you hit behind the ball with your driver we stones will also scuff the face.

And pure hitting wil putt small scratches on the middle of the face just above the sweet spot!!!

  5. well, let's say these are small vertical scratches on the face and pretty small. It doesn't look like satan drug his fingers over them or anything but still. The clubs in question are a new set of RAC's, and after the first trip to the range I had the tiny lines, so I wondered. My old clubs also had these just wondered if it meant I was picking the ball clean too often or something of the sort. I tend to take little to no divot, so I chalked it up to the clean club/ball contact.........

That's the effect of the club imparting spin on the ball. It happens all the time. I honestly wouldn't worry about it, but i know how you feel with the new sticks and wanting to keep them minty!
