Grafalloy Comp NT

Got one of these sexy things for my 905R, nice little deal off ebay, free spine/flo, and a cool sapphire ferrule..

I had a buddy who plays this with a Launcher 460 and he crushes the ball, and with a great deal and new club thought id try it out. Who has sucess with this shaft? Opinions on it?

Anyone whose played both it and the GD Purple Ice I would love to hear a comparison as that has been one of my favorite shafts ever.

So, opinions? +/-s? Anything you know about the shaft would be appreciated.

btw, 85g stiff flex.

i'd also be interested in comparisons between the NT Comp and Purple Ice. I'm a low ball hitter and have the NT Comp in my G2 15.5* driver and it's a great combo for me. Have also got the NT Comp in my Exotics 5 wood but have been hitting this too low so have recently purchased a 65g Purple Ice off Golfsmith as they were reduced. Haven't had it fitted yet. I'm hoping for a higher launch with the Purple Ice.

I'm a low ball hitter - hence the reason for having a 15.5* driver. I hit this with a nice mid-high trajectory with the NT Comp.

I put a new Comp NT in a Launcher Comp a couple years ago. For my swing it was "irratic", one of three was a huge bomb, long and straight and others were pretty so-so. I had asked the guy for a stiff flex and "in his infinite wisdom" he bought a regular flex and tipped it 1". It wasn't what I wanted and although I'd bomb one with it once in awhile for the most part it was pretty pedestrian. If he would have done it the way I wanted I might have been happier with it.

I had an opportunity to hit one in a TEE head. That thing was a bomber. I really liked how it recovered when you went at it. Subsequent users of that same club tried and failed, so it's touch and go, just like any shaft.

I wasn't a fan of the 85g, even in a fairway wood. Just didn't react the same as what I was a fan of in the 65g.

I owned the S-flex TEE that Rock is talking about. I think that if I had originally had an R-flex CompNT in it, I would still have that club. As it was, I sold it to IG, and I think he liked it (but didn't LOVE it.) I still think the CompNT is the best feeling, most stable shaft I've ever hit. It's very "linear". It doesn't "snap" through the ball. Rather, it loads and unloads very smoothly throughout the swing.
