lightweight shafts?

Anyone know of any solid lightweight iron shafts for a good player? I went to the range today (55 in NY yessss) and was hitting my buddy's graphite shafted irons i was killing them about 10-15 yards longer then my irons. He has some elbow problems so he uses graphite to ease joint pains.
I need a steel shaft cause I put a decent hit on the balls as i can hit my PW about 135-140 on a good day. I did a quick search and found the new True Temper GS 75 but they only come in s200 and im alittle skeptical about that.

I play Nippon NS 1050's and they are a 105g steel shaft. Nippon goes down to an 850 steel shaft, 85grams.

I picked up my PINGs my earlier this year and went with the CS Lite shaft with the thought that the lighter shaft would equal higher swing speeds. What I have found the lighter shaft to equal is less control due to loss of feel of where the club is during my swing. I've been messing around with lead tape and that helped a bit as it brought the swing weight up a couple/few points but I'm still on the edge of getting them reshafted with a heavier shaft.

edit: I was playing TTDG in my other irons.

If you're hitting the ball that far I wouldn't worry about trying to add yardage - you'd probably just create a yardage gap down in the wedge section of your bag.

There are some graphite shafts out there that are every bit as reliable as steel now. I think Indacup has or had Gramans in his irons.

I wouldn't go with the GS75's - maybe try the Dynamic gold SL's or Dynalite Gold SLs or the Nippons like Ez mentioned if you're really looking for lighter weight steel - but you might add a couple yards but lose consistency going to something lighter if your current weight shafts fit your swing better

I had some Clevelands with graphite shafts, they were pretty light and I found my self over swinging and all over the place with them, I now have steel shafts and swing much smoother.

Thanks for all the advice, no matter how far you hit it when you see the ball going 10 yards further with a lighter shaft in there you wanna see it all the time lol.

Aerotech

It is a graphite shaft with steel fibres wound through it. You can purchase any weight you want and a good golf pro can trim it for whatever ballflight you want. They are more costly than some other graphite shafts, but once you hit one you will realise where the money went. I ordered a hybrid with one. 3 swings with the demo club my pro had and there was no going back to any other graphite shaft. I believe it is made in the USA too as they do not trust any factory to meet their quality standards.

BTW graphite shafts tend to be 1/2" longer than steel, which equals 5-10 yards.

So why not go raphite shafts? You liked what you hit, why not duplicate it?

Oh boy, is this a can of worms! This debate rages just short of forged vs. cast...

Yes it does, but if someone wants to know if their irons are 'pure' or not then they obviously need that reassurance that they are using the correct equipment.Myself,if it feels good, use it..lol
