Thinking about a LD club

What's a reasonably priced combo for a good performance long drive club? I'm thinking of putting one together to mess around with. Probably a 5.5-6.5* head I guess?

I wouldn't go lower than 7.5. When the championships were on it looked like the majority of them were hitting Proforce V2s. I was amazed at the amount of them in use. So maybe find something in a 7.5* head and score a V2 inexpensively?

Curious though... WHY do you want to do this? Invest your money in your applicable game or on something more useful to your life, brother. It's one thing to seek an excellent driver to use on the course. It's another thing to seek a driver you never intend to play =\

Give it some thought, I guess. I can see it being fairly fun, any maybe even useful on really windy days? The sidespin is just gonna be brutal.

I'm a ho, what else is there to explain? I don't want to mess with my current bag but I'm itching to get something new to play with.

Those weren't the standard ProForce V2's. Those were the V2 LD (that Indacup sells) and is much different then the normal ones.....

zaphod has one made up for his son Eric and he's hitting it a mile...

NoClones, No Copies, No Crap!

And I'm thinking of making up a "cheater" driver, oversize, illegal head etc etc This is fun stuff to do.

Yes,why invest into a golf club which you will hit a long ways? sounds like a waste of money.Buy something smart like a set of binoculars that tells you that a pond you think is 170yds. away is in actual fact only 167yds. Bet you only need to spend $400 for it.Then you can blast your new 7 iron with the high power, kriptonite shaft you paid $300 for clear over it.....but,really...build the L.D.club because I think you'll have one hell of a good time with it.Pretend your playing a game as a little kid and remember how much fun it is!!No words on words here my freind.I mean it,have fun

Well, yeah, that's kind of the point. I just want to see how far a 6* loft with a 48" shaft will go.

Why aren't we all using the LD shaft?

I always wanted to do that same thing with a LD shaft and Integra 600cc head. And then watch all my friends faces as my ball flies 100yds past theirs.

Ya,why not. It's about time the recreational golfer is allowed to just go out and have fun.Another thread was the use of separate courses for separate horses.Don't think it has to go that far but why not a 3 hour reservation slot for those who just want to go play and boom away?Dumb idea, maybe.I'm just trying to lighten up,and put in some suggestions that probably only my warped mind is capable of coming up with.

I'm unclear on USGA regulations regarding shafts. Are the LD shafts non-conforming?

The "USUAL" difference between a Tour vs. LD shaft is the LD shafts are designed to be longer, and handle swing speeds up to 30 mph faster than tour grade shafts.

Many companies have taken kick characteristics from their Long Drive shafts and incrementally reduced them for us "mortals"...like the UST V.2 LD series.

They are conforming...they have to be, to be allowed in LDA competition.

If I can get my SS and launch angle with my driver, would you be able to give me a recommendation? I have to admit, that Tour Swing head on your site is stuck in my head... and we all know what happens when I get a club on the brain.

Our 46" PATRIOT series standard-length shafts are made with (18) unique
and different layers of the similar high-quality graphite prepreg materials,
similar engineering, similar highest-quality materials, and similar care as
our 50" WHUP-n-SHAFT Long Drive shafts, which dominated the recent 2007
RE/MAX WORLD LONG DRIVE CHAMPIONSHIPS, taking 1st, 3rd, and 9th Places in the Open Division.

FLEX - These shafts are available in the following flexes:
Lady-225-229 cpm
Senior-235-239 cpm
Regular-240-244 cpm
Tour Regular-245-249 cpm
Stiff-250-254 cpm
Tour Stiff-255-259 cpm
X-260-264 cpm
Tour X -265-270 cpm

WEIGHT - The shaft weight runs from 62-grams to 67-grams.

TORQUE - These shafts have 3.9 true torque

KICK-POINT - these shafts have a 2.06 mid/high kick-point.

.335 tip - all shafts have a standard .335 diameter tip.

Butt OD - the butt outside diameter is .600

PARALLEL TIP - the parallel tip section runs 4.5"

TIP TENSION STRENGTH - the tip tension strength is (firm) at 1.92

Why not use the best? Go hard or go home.
