Thread: Steel shaft for a hybrid

  1. Steel shaft for a hybrid

Anyone know of a good steel shaft for hybrids. Most of the hybrids I have seen come with a lightweight graphite shaft. I want to put a heavier steel shaft in with a low kick point which is hard to find. Hireko sells an Apollo Shadow steel shaft with a low kick point but somewhere along these threads, maybe it was LyleG, said that Apollo was a crap shaft??? This is the only steel shaft that I have come across that has a low kick point with a little bit of heft to it at 122 grams. Not sure if there are others out there that might be better??

I love the Nippon NS950 Pro's in my hybrids. Stiff plays a bit soft to flex - more like a firm. Great shaft.

  3. I've actually been secretly thinking of buying another 21* MidTP and putting a Nippon 1050 in it. I put a 950 in my 5W and it's just flat out awsome. I've got very good control and distance with that club now.

How much are those Nippons? I have a set coming that is just yearning for a set of 1150's.

  5. I'm not sure. Ken at VictoryCustomGolf has them though. As far as I've seen the 950fwy shaft was $40 online but the iron shafts are much cheaper each. I've only seen .355's though, not sure if they have .370's that would go in most hybrids. If they don't they should make one.

  6. Wait up, I did find them online but in the UK, so Nippon does make a .370. So an NS 1050 weighs in at 110grams with a mid kick. Would make an awesome hybrid shaft. Also the 8950 can be bought for $25 and weighs 104grams.

  8. Nippons all come with a higher flex point....I need a low kick to get a little more distance plus Nippon's are wayyyyyy over my budget......

  9. They have a Super Peening Brown listed as a tip kick and 107grams. I have no idea on prices for a single shaft though.

I also play a Nippon 950 in my hybrid - I would think you could ho one somewhere with a little patience.
