Higher Launch-Lower Spin

After doing some research and using some to the online launch models I've come to a decision. I believe that if I can get a higher launch angle and a lower spin rate, I'll not only drive the ball further but the forgiveness of a higher loft head and less backspin will result in better accuracy. So in the works will be a BurnerTP 10.5* shafted with the new DVS 70X shaft. Ken at VictoryCustomGolf will be building the driver and has done some prelimary testing of the DVS vs. several other shafts. He says the initial launch is higher than the VS Proto but the spin rate is considerably lower. He also said that "tipwise" it feels firmer than the Diamana Blueboard. These comparisons were meant to help my understanding since I've got the most experience with those 2 shafts.

won't the increase in spin from the higher loft more than offset the decrease in spin from the shaft? (each degree of loft adds about 300 rpm I believe) how much different is this shaft from your current set-up?

the higher loft should certainly be easier to hit straight though

I thought you hit the 9.5 too high, won't the 10.5 with any shaft launch even higher ?

Initial launch will be a touch higher, but because of the slower spin rate, the ball won't balloon as much and will deliver a more peircing trajectory. The touch higher initial launch should equate to longer carry and longer rollout that a higher spin shot would curb.

Try a Tour Swing X-plode 10.5 head. High launch from the 10.5* loft, but apparently they're extremely low spin.

I don't know about accuracy. It will as stated before it will limit ballooning and increase roll. More back spin will reduce the effect of slice and hook spin. That is reason why 3 wood is straighter than driver.

That's the big question for me. Will a high loft / low spin head be less accurate.

Before you went to all this trouble, did you experiment with a different ball first? Its why they invented TP Blacks and Pro V1x

EZ, get the FT-i LCG coming out in Jan. It's accurate as we all know - and also, with the addition of the LCG - will, apparently launch higher and spin less than the current FT-i. Also - it comes with a kick-ass stock shaft - the X-Con 6 - all for $529.

My ideal drive for max carry should be launched at 16* with a spin rate of 3000. To get up to 16* would take an increase in loft and to maintain 3000rpms of spin would take a low spin shaft.

ExtremeVFT was asking me about this so I figured I'd just post it. I know most of you guys have seen it since that's where I originally found out about.
http://www.sonicboomgolf.com/distanc...ndashboard.swf

It's very eye opening though. I'm using 160 as BS # and need a 16* launch to maximize carry. If I drop down to a 12* launch, I'm going to lose 10yds.

It's also basically saying you don't want a 9.5* driver until you are swinging 120mph with perfect smash factor. Yikes.

That's also assuming you have "very good" contact with the ball, hitting it in the sweet spot each time out.

If you're not, you can't even consider 160mph as ballspeed.

While 16* might be perfect launch conditions, added to 2750rpm, that might yeild you 302 yard carry, but your ballspeed is likely 4-5% less, which puts you you more in the 285 yard carry area.

I can hit an 8.5* driver farther and straighter than I can a 10.5* driver. I know, because I've done it. It's all based on your swing, not what a chart shows. It's a good guide, but not gospel.
