Need shaft help!!

I received a great big bertha 454 titanium for christmas. I like the club, the only problem is it has a regular flex shaft. I would like to get a stiff shaft for it because I am just slicing it too much. What shaft would be a good replacement and what kind of prices am I looking at. Thanks for the help.

I've read good things about the Graphalloy Epic shaft. It is their newest shaft and has some pretty sweet technology behind it.

What's your swing speed? Are you a swinger or a hitter? Do you like feel in your shafts or a more muted touch/telephone pole style? What did you play before? Were you successful with it? Have you hit anything in the past that you liked?

There are loads of questions to ask before recommending a proper shaft.

The Epic is good, but it's also dog feces if it's set up for the wrong person.

I played a taylor made 300 ti with a stiff shaft. I am a beginner so I am still learning. I like the sweet spot on the callaway and when I hit it good I really hit it good. Those shots are few and far between though. I really like the way the taylor made shaft felt.

The S90, I believe. 77grams and higher torque.

*Here's my recommendation based on limited information and what you've used in the past.: Adila NVS 75 Stiff

Aldila Golf Shafts: NVS 75 Wood Shaft

These are readily available and very solid. They elevate the ball a little, which always helps the beginner golfer.

If you search around, you could probably find a used one for a good deal.

*This being a blind recommendation. Ultimately, heading to a shop that has a swing computer will help determine what works for you. Demo as many shafts as you can and make sure the lofts you're using reflect what you have in your 454. That way, you'll be closer to what you really would achieve in that particular head.

Good luck in your search, the trial and error of it all makes it fun!

Personally, I would go with the 65g version too. But the shaft he liked before was 77g, making the 75 version more appealing. But, it's always nice to demo...

I have the NVS 65g in my Burner, feels great to me & I usually hit it straight.

Normally, a slice is a result of a shaft being TOO STIFF, not too soft.

However, that shaft (assuming it's the RCH) is about as stable as my first wife and about as uncontrollable.

Since you are going to a local professional to reshaft it...he will WANT to look at your swing and he should be able to make a recommendation for you.

Yes it is a RCH. I found this shaft on rock bottom golf and I like the price. Would it be a good fit Aldila NV 75 .350" Wood Shaft. I tried to post the link but didnt have enough posts.

Also, would I have to get a new grip or can the clubmaker just use my old grip off of the old shaft?

I believe the 454 is a bore through head? You might consider going down a flex and if it was me I would ho a vs proto. The would be a a killer combo, that club was very under rated.

I'm assuming it's the Callaway grip, right? They're very thin and a pain to remove. I would just bend over and buy a new grip while your at it. Treat yourself!
