    SK Fiber Tour Trac 90

Thinking of sticking one of these bad boys into my TEE 3 wood...I know that MGP and Youngun have some love for this shaft..

i like the YS-6+ in my driver and don't really like the v2 as it feels a little boardy...like to feel the shaft working
driver swing speed is about 105 range....for 20 bucks is there any reason that I should go ahead and try this combo from peoples experiance

  2. SK Fibre shafts are one of the most stable shafts I've had to test. Reviews back from my Professional Clubmaker buddies is it is the best bagain out there. Give it a try

You'll love the TT series shafts then. My swing speed is a little less than yours. I have a YS-6+ Stiff in my R580-XD and I like it a lot. I also have a TT80 stiff in one of my drivers and I'd say it plays a tad softer than the YS-6+ but workable over the same swing speed range -- it loads and unloads very smoothly, you can feel the head through the whole swing and it never feels out of control. I just picked up a TT90 stiff that will go into my V-steel 5W, Adams LP RPM 4W or a yet to be determined fairway wood. To me the TT90 feels about the same stiffness and profile as the YS-6+ just a little heavier.

I can see why Lyle has switched over. These shafts have a great feel and are an incredible bargain.

  6. You say the TT is softer than the YS-6?

Does that mean Lyle is playing it in X?

It's really a feel thing, nothing scientific but the TT80 feels like it is less tip stiff than the YS-6+ and has a broad mid-flex curve. It kind of reminds me of the BB Solutions 130 actually. Based on numbers I've seen online in some other clubmaker forums it looks like the TT80 plays to the softer side of stiff and that's what it feels like to me too: kind of an R++ or S-. The TT90 is definitely a bit stiffer and the TT90 stiff feels a lot like the YS-6+ stiff (to me).

It's kind of hard to describe -- the TT80 was by far the smoothest of all the shafts I tried last year without feeling whippy or soft. I also hit the crap out of it in a Maltby CT250 head. I'm still playing with head/shaft combos but so far it's in the lead for bag time in 2008.

  8. My current driver set up is a CT250 with a measured 9.6* of loft, a 43.5 inch SKfiber pure energy shaft in R flex.

My 3 and 5 wood have TT80's in them in R flex.

I use to play soft shafts all the time and have now gone back to them. I much prefer them even though my swing speed puts me into the high S low X flex range. They allow me to swing with a better tempo and I love the way they feel.

My iron shaft are also SK graphite TT80's in R flex.

Light and soft, yep I aint embarrassed to say so.

  10. I can hit any flex shaft for some reason. I just prefer the feel of the R's. It the Pure Energy in R flex no differently than the Creation in S, or the OZik I had in X.

The thing I've realized I like about the SK Fiber shafts is that their heavier shafts still play somewhat soft and not boardy like a lot of other heavier shafts (YS-7+, Purple Ice 75 or 85, etc.). For whatever reason I have always got along better with a little heavier shaft in all my clubs and something right between regular and stiff. For graphite shafts the SK Fiber line has been the closest to ideal for me that I've found.
