Thread: I just bought a Videocaddy

    I just bought a Videocaddy

Check this out. I heard them goofing on it on the Howard Stern show, but the idea actually seems pretty cool. I just bought one, but it hasn't showed up yet. Taping my swing on the range never feels the same. Now I'll need to buy some analysis software! Has anyone else bought a videocaddy and actually used it?

Let me just take a wild stab at this. You're this guy:

    MySpace.com - tim - 38 - Male - SAINT CHARLES, MISSOURI - www.myspace.com/imtayayk

... trying to get some kind of gig on The Howard Stern show for your band that you play guitar for called Aritificial Hip, or something, I don't know, maybe some group of friends from some web development company or something, by kissing up to the Director that also created some device back in the early ninetys that resemble a camera poll mount, but because of to many drugs or some unknown reason, maybe a tripod maker had a similar device for less money, never got around to marketing it until just recently he found out it would also mount on the wheel pole of a golf cart.

So Tim, tell us a little bit about yourself, what do you do for a living?

What? No that's not me. I'm a teacher in New Jersey.

  4. Lol. What's all that about PA?

If you are looking to analyze your videos, check out Swingacademy.com. A lot of on here use it. It's a free site where you can upload your swings, analyze them, as well as have other people analyze them for you. Enjoy the new toy. Put a link up sometime if you do get one up on Swingacademy, I'd like to see how the quality and speed comes out compared to stuff I've been using.

  7. He's not a teacher.

Tim let me explain what happens when a new guy makes his first post about some product that he thinks is really cool.

99.9% of the time the guy is spamming my board. Playing innocent like he really just thought that his gadget was so cool that he thought he'd tell the whole internet about it when in fact he REALLY has some personal interest in the product and is looking to the website to generate some free traffic to see his shlocky gear.

Now, generally we ban the offender out of hand and delete the post but in this case I was compelled to do some rooting around and part of that is running the ip and guess what yours said?

IP Location: United States New York Sirius Satellite Radio
Now what am I to make of that? Hmmm??

Now to get to the video caddy for a moment. It's not really a bad idea (personally I'd just let my playing partner hold the camera) but it is hideously over priced. $60 for a cheesy camera mount? If Walmart was selling this they'd list it at $9.95

    Think about that.

    Oh, and......

    Welcome to the board.

OK, you win this round! Stupid rookie mistake. It's not cheesy though! By the way, your friend doesn't want to hold your camera for you. He's trying to play golf. He you thinks you should buy a videocaddy.

Let me guess with my crystal ball since I don't have the same convenience of Sling.

    Maybe somewhere around Lake Hiawatha??

  12. LOL!

    Way to man up "Tim"

Maybe it's quality merchandise made from space age materials, still not worth $60.

Have you seen my golf invention?

I'll trade you one of mine for one of yours.

Interestingly enough, if I were to piece together my own from Bogen/Manfrotto parts (top of the line camera mounts and tripods), it would likely cost me close to $40 to make this device, or two~thirds the cost. But then again, I would have no question that it would be the best money could by.

However, if I could convince my local course to put a windshield on my golf cart, I could likely knock that down to 1/3 of the cost for the same quality equipment.

For $3.00 USD (or even Canadian dollars these days ) you can buy a roll of duct tape and solve the problem. Of course, I would then need to buy a video camera to have that problem.
