Loft limits?

Not sure if this is the correct area to put this, but it seemed to be the most correct. Anyways, I've had this 62* hi lob wedge for a few years, and recently a friend of mine brought up the thought that there was a rule stating a limit on the maximum loft a club can have. I've never heard of anything like this and was just wondering if there is such a thing. I love the club and use it all the time. I'd just like to make sure I'm not playing with "illegal" equipment incase I decide to enter a tournament or two. I've never been given any problems about it when I played throughout high school, but would like to hear any info you all could provide.

Thanks

According to my rule book, there is no limit on loft as long as the striking face conforms to regulations.

However, i can't imagine why you would ever need anything beyond 60*. A 64* is pretty useless and a 72*, like the one by Feel Golf is pretty much just a parody.

King Par is an unknown quantity at this point
tmag plays a 64* wedge and he's a professional, so I'm going to assume it's legal.

I'm thinking with a 72° you'd almost hit yourself in the head. I almost bought a 64° just to see how high I could hit it.

good to hear... the club face should conform to the rules. It has the same grooves and everything that any other wedge has besides the vokey spin milled wedges. I love the club because I carry a 54* gap wedge also and when I want to get the ball up and stick it on the green, I can do it with great accuracy. You guys just made my day. Although, I have found a large supply of 60* vokey wedges that have been tempting me at $75 a piece

Then as a new member,(5 posts), you're obligated to buy one of the Vokey 60* wedges and get it bent to 64*,

Welcome to Shot Talk and the world of club ho'ing!

How about an 80*, which would only seem to serve the purpose to fillet a golf ball. "... hit high lobs to go right for the flag", unfortunately the only way you could likely reach the flag is if you are on the green. I'm guessing it is not one of the best sellers, but then again, base on their selection of club it could be.

I have never heard of any rules regarding loft limitations. Pelz recommends a 64*, and even though I carry a 60* I own a 64* that lasted about 1 round in my bag before becoming an indoor practice club. Fortunately I only spent $20. It will never have spot in my bag and is useless for my needs.

Yeah, I was thinking the only guy that could reach the pin from off the green is the same guy that yells POW with his 400 yard drives, and could run the PGA if he could even 4 putt. Baffles me that if he is that good, maybe he could pay an instructor a few bucks to learn to 2 putt, in the sense that he would get millions and millions in return.

It can save me 5 strokes a round. I might need to think about getting one of these.

Hmmmmm, shave 10 strokes with the air driver, 5 strokes with the 80* wedge, 10 strokes with their putter, and 10 more with their power golf system? Shave a total of 35 strokes off my best score of 81 would give me a 46 for 18 holes? sign me up and look out Tiger!

Phil carries a 64* for certain courses. Sawgrass being one of them. Deep, deep rough, need height, tight pins, makes a 64* or even a 68* a good club choice.
