Golf Shoes...

There is alot of talk about clubs and even more so about shafts...what about shoes??

Since i just started playing last season i didnt have the cash to pick up shoes as i was finishing college at the time...now that i have a career going i can...

What has been the best pair of golf shoes you have or have had in the past?

I would really like to stick with the newer styling that look more like street shoes..i'm not very fond of the "Saddle" style.

I like the adidas and nike selections...i just want the best performance/look/value combonation

Also, looking to stay about 70-100$ for the pair.

Thanks in advance for the help!

I really love my adidas powerband. I have last years model they are really, really comfortable. I ordered a newer pair of powerband the sport model. The sport model of 08 isn't waterproof but the 07 model is.

The 07 you can get pretty cheap on fleabay right now, and the 08 sport model goes for 120 retail.

I got a pair of Addidas from Dick's for like $50 last year and they look great. Stop by there if there is one nearby and check them out. They have models that are specific to Dick's I believe, never seen them anywhere else. I've got a pair of Dryjoys I wear in the wet weather. I've had those 3 years now and I can walk a soaked golf course all day and my socks are 100% dry after. Most waterproof footwear I've ever owned. The Adiddas are more comfortable but although they say "waterproof", feet will be soaked after walking through one puddle.

I'm not sure if it's even true, but I vaguely remember reading something about a study back in '95 or so that said golfers wearing "traditional" golf-shoes scored better than those who sported the "athletic" style shoes. Of course this could just be because the guys wearing the traditional shoes were old men who had played/practiced for years and had decent short game, but it's one of those things that I've thought about when buying shoes

When I buy a pair of shoes, I intend for them to be my only pair (I never part with the old ones, but my intention is always for the new pair to be the gamers) - I can still wear traditional style shoes with jeans if I'm playing a dog track, but I probably couldn't dress up a sneaker-style shoe enough for a nice course - so being cheap I buy just one pair of traditional style shoes

my favorite golf shoes of all time are an old pair of Reeboks that I wore throughout high-school and into college - I'd probably still be wearing them today if one of the metal spikes hadn't become stripped and stuck in the shoe

I miss metal spikes - I guess courses are in better shape with the plastic stuff, but it's not the same - I miss the crunch sound on the paths and in the parking lot and the ability to slide on hard floors

Dryjoys are the best! I've had a pair now for over 3 yrs. still firm with great support and waterproof like the day I bought them. Oh yeah, very comfortable even after walking 18!

Put me down for Ecco. They're stylish, fit my feet well and hold up over 18 better than anything else I've tried.

They may not work for you or anyone else, but they get my nod.

HOLY S^%$. I looked at prices on some of these on golfsmith. They have pairs for $400! You sell things other than golf shafts don't you?

This is probably due to the fact that people that wear the saddle style are usually more traditional and usually have played the game for a few years...therefore are more likely to be better than the newer guys that are hacking it up(Like me) and tend to wear the athletic type shoes...

Thanks to everyone that has posted...i really like the Adidas Powerband also and i think i am going to pick up some of the 2007 style that are on some serious discounts right now...but i am still open to more suggestions

Also, who has the "cheapest" prices on golf shoes...so far TGW seems to be the lowest, however, i haev only checked a few places so far.

I know fleabay is hit or miss on somethings but I got my powerbands on there for 65 bucks. They came brand new each shoe in plastic with the paper still in the shoe.

This is 100% accurate. Search all you want...if you save anything, it won't be enough to pay for your search time.

I just got the new Tour 360 LTD shoes from Adidas, they are designed to rival the Foot Joy Classics. They have a lot of technology in the soles, a blend of the Powerband and the original 360 shoes. The soles are a little thinner, which they say helps you stay connected to the ground better through the swing. I've only worn them on the range so far, but they are extremely comfortable, made it through a 10 hour day of lessons when I took them out of the box. I got them in all three colors, white, brown, and black.
