Asking advice from the Scotty guys out there

Just wondering if a few Scotty experts / owners could chime in here.

I recently come across a bargain Scotty Studio Design for $70 (believe it to be the original model that was produced in '02) and it has a few spots on the flange, which I believe to be rust, that I would like to get rid of.

Is there anything I can do (oil, etc.) that can help to regain its original luster or am I stuck with this?

Thanks in advance
Nick

Try Flitz on it. Get it at Home Depot. This'll clean the rust, but the finish is Black Oxide & will be gone under the rust spots. Be gentle and do not use a Dremel.

WCG appears to be right on as I found an early Scotty Studio Design that is demanding $125 with the topline full of dings in addition to some rust spots, and they aren't willing to negotiate. $70 appears to be a 40% savings on market value, nice.

I have found using Mothers aluminum and mag auto wheel cleaning polish* to be very mild and does not damage soft finishes. Leaves a nice luster and will clean up rust spots as long as they are not too deep into the metal.

PS-*Paste like product not spray on cleaner.

I know toothpaste can work on cleaning sky marks I wonder how it would effect a putter finish and rust..

Since the black oxide finish is essentially a "controlled rust", this or other rust removers will remove the finish also. Of course if you want to remove the finish, this'll do it pretty easily.

That'll probably make it worth the $70 asking price.

The Studio Designs were/are a black pearl finish, not oxide and will not rust unless you chip them. I've had the 2.5 in the bag for about 3 years and all I do is polish it up with a towel now and then.

$70.00 is a great price.

'01 and '02 models were gun blue (black ox), the later ones from '03 and '04 are black pearl which is a plated black nickel finish. $70 is indeed a great price, even with a bit of rust.

I'll show you exactly what I mean if it helps.

And yes, I was ecstatic when I discovered the price tag on it when I picked it up. Actually it run me $75 as I had to get them to put a new grip on it. Can't say the rust will bother me that much but would like to get rid of it IF I can.

P.S Please remember i'm in AUS so we don't quite have the product range or large store chains that you guys do. Thanks

Must've been doing the above pics when you posted Topflite.

Pre touch-up, better pictures of the actual club and not the rust...

That's it, work it baby
