Thanks

NP-99....didn't Irishgolfer play one of those? Hmmm....

I can't speak from experience with it, but it does get good reviews as a mid range FW...

i have one and it was my first 3wood i ever bought. i think it's tad more challenging to hit than the current 3woods sold today, but i believe they make one of the better woods as far as control, trajectory, and feel. i'm not exactly sure when the NP-99 were made, but i believe it's been few years. my 3wood has gone through 5 different shafts, so it's pretty beat up, but i still like the way it feels. changes in shafts are for control aspect, finding the right stiffness more or less.

I had a 14* NP99 last year with the stock Aldila NV shaft in it and absolutely loved it. Great feel, great sound at impact and a beautiful boring trajectory. Definitely one for the better player though, and just too much club for me. If I could have kept it in the bag just for tight tee shots I'd still have it, but because I sometimes struggled to get it airborne off the fairway it had to go.

If you've got the game for it, you'll love it.

Simply one of the best fairways ever, IMHO.

NP-99 came out in this country late 2005, early 2006.
I do not own one but have a Super CV D.D.B. by Royal Collection ( Sonartec's Japanese parent co. ). The NP-99 has back weighing and supposed to get the ball up easier, general review id very good and above average but not necessarily the best fit for your game.
If you could have a chance to demo one at least on the driving range, would help you to make a decision.

I never had the NP-99 but did have the Royal Collection version as well, it was a 5 wood though. I liked it, but didn't love it to be honest. Good feel off the face and great looking head, it may have been the shaft I wasn't crazy about though ( Fuji VP 80). If you can find one cheap then go for it, but remember it was made for lower handicappers...which is not to say don't buy it, just dont expect it to help your slice, hook etc...

Dave Ireland had (may still have) the NP-99 model. That boy changes his clubs so quickly you never know. I remember hitting it (it had a bit of a disco dark blue speckled head). NP stands for Nick Price as it was designed specifically for him. I think it had the Fuji Bonzai shaft?

Anyhoo I had the SS-02 and then laterally had the SS-2.5, both in 14 degrees. Both are damn nice clubs, beautiful heads, really well made. Just need to get the right shaft on them. The latter had a Sonartec Fuji 26.3.

As Sandy stated they give a low boring trajectory, kinda hard to hit off the deck unless you are swing really well. They are sneaky long with plenty of roll-out. I can't imaging anyone ballooning one of these clubs.

They are probably not the most forgiving club in the bag but great feedback when you nut it.

I fell fowl of the Tour Edge bug and swapped out the SS-2.5 but it's sitting in reserve should the Exotics play up.

I would imagine you can pick up a Sonartec pretty cheaply now, so why not go for it, especially if you are a good ball striker.
