Post Anyone play an Aldila NV65 S?

Anyone play one of those? Just looking for some reviews/comparisons etc...!

I've just picked up a Burner TP with one of those in it pretty cheap. Gonna give it a whack.

Thanks guys

Andy

Mixed opinions! Rockford35 HATES this shaft. A couple guys, including myself, like it a lot. It's a softer tip shaft, so if you have a real fast swing you may not like it. I've hit BOMBS with the thing in a Launcher 460 head. You've really got to try it for yourself.

It's a quality shaft, but it's not for everyone. You'll hear that a lot, about almost any shaft.

SUX, thanks for that! I have the REAX 65 S in my current driver, so going to this shouldn't be too much different I guess. I do have a good swing on me, but I'm trying to find something that I can bomb with a little less speed for the driver. I love to bomb the irons but not the driver!

Is impending fatherhood softening you up? I never expected such a PC answer from you regarding this shaft. Something like:

"That shaft is the biggest POS waste of carbon molecules on the planet", maybe.

But "I do not play an Aldila NV 65S"? Whew...

Play it pured in a G5, the most muted, flat ball flight that I love a lot but i only play it in lots of wind because of low ball flight and low spin. FT5+ Speeder= Dead Straight bombs all day every day.

Thanks guys! Just spoke to the guy I got it from, he's a 2 capper and had a bad car accident end of last year so needs to slow his swing. He reckons he hits a nice draw and puts it out there 300 yards pretty much most of the time. I like the sound of it already.

I have another lesson on Saturday morning where I'm going to get launch monitored so hopefully i'll get some stats out for you on swingspeed and we can see what sort of speed i'll need to bomb it 300!

That's what the search function is for.

Search: NV & POS

I love the NV 65. It works for my swing. Normally, my fault with a shaft is that it launches too high, the NV helps me bring the ball flight down a bit without being too tip stiff for my swing speed. I like the feel of the NV, not too harsh and not too soft. I am experimenting with a a Graman UL540 in my TS Renegade that appears to be working so far, but I have an NV in my two primary drivers that spend time in my bag.

I had a NV-65S in my Launcher 460 and hated it. I did hit some of my longest drives ever with it, but it felt very whippy to me and I was always in fear of missing it left if I went after the ball even a little bit.

The NV was one of the first shafts where the old saying: "Let the shaft do the work" really applied.

Due to the design it was very easy to "overswing" and ruin the intention of the shaft.

It is fairly tip stiff, in relation to the rest of the body....but not more tip stiff than most (if that makes sense).

That would explain why I like it so much. I have learned to let the club do the work and not try to overspeed my swing trying to get a few more yards distance. I am a lot more accurate witht the driver now that I do that.
