D2 Gamer v HX Hot Bite

I was wondering what peoples opinions are of these two balls. They are both new to my pro shop and are available in the ball comp. I have been getting only premium balls but they go at 1 for every 2 balls won so I'm thinking of giving these a go. The pro gave me a free HX to try last week and it felt pretty good, but I haven't used a D2 gamer yet.

My thought process is that as they are both made by the same company, and as the HX has a urethane cover, in theory it should be a touch better around the greens than the gamer.

Any suggestions?

I can't speak to the Gamer yet, as I haven't tried them. But I did buy a box of HX Hot Bites, and frankly, I didn't care for them much. Not a bad ball, but definitely not worth the premium. I can compare them to the D2 Distance and the Nike PowerSoft Distance.

D2 is the longest, but doesn't spin as much as the Nike. A good ball, but I think the Nike is better overall, for about the same money.

Nike is the straightest, and is decent around the green. Very good distance, comparable to the D2. I like this ball.

I hit an HX Hot, and really liked it. The Hot Bite was a different ball altogether. First off, I tore the cover up on this ball, and I'm not known for spinning the ball. Oddly, it didn't seem to stick on the green any better than the D2. It's as though the cover simply wipes off and doesn't impart spin to the core. In fairness, I only tried it for one round, and the greens were fairly hard, so a true comparo can't be made.

I say, buy a sleeve of the Hot Bites and try them out. You might like them. I'm sticking with the Nikes (until I try some Gamers).
