Tour lock weight installation issues

Right I'm having a nightmare installing this thing...firstly 3/16' allen wrenches don't exist this side of the atlantic as we are fully metric for allen wrenches so I'm forced to use a smaller one...

I cut the top of my odyssey grip (pain in the ass) until I can see the top of the shaft....dropped the weight in an attempted to tighten...but the thing just doesn't want to tighten up...still rattles around and when I turn the putter upside down the thing falls off... I can't see how the thing will stay on without a grip holding the thing in place...

anyone got any ideas..it feels great when its in but I can't play it unless its secure

If it feels great in and you have no intention of taking it out, why not glue it in place? Wrap some sort of tape around it to take up any slack and then glue the heck out of it?

Buy a cheap metric allen wrench thats a little to big and file it down. Either that or I'll mail you a 3/16th, but I imagine you'd have the problem solved before it got there.

I found it easier to tighten the TLP weights by starting the tightening process before I put it in the shaft. I tightened the TLP until the rubber expanded to the point where it would snugly slide down the shaft with a little bit of force and then use the wrench to tighten it the rest of the way. Works like a charm.

Do these weights fit nicely into the butt end of the shaft? I want to try this with my Cameron but am not really excited about Winn grips. Can I just buy a Ping grip to install over the weight?

Buy one of these: TLP Grip Modifier.

It works really well on flat topped grips. Not as good on rounded topped grips (like the GP Tour Velvet), but it still works but not quite as pretty of a finish as a flat top grip.

I bought the Winn grip for one putter, but have modified several other types of grips on both putters and standard grips to add the weights.

I am not sure I would want to put a grip over the weight as you may get some rattling in the shaft. I have not tried it, but I am pretty sure the top would slide down into the shaft causing that issue. As far as fitting into the shaft, I have had no problems getting the TLP's down the shaft on steel shafts and even got it into a UST Fre Filtered graphit shaft butt with no problem. If anything, they are a little too small which necisitates starting the tightening process before it goes in shaft to prevent it from spinning inside the shaft.

I just installed a 100 g weight in my putter and a 30g weight in my driver. All I did was grind the circle a bit smaller so it sits flush with the shaft. I tightened it and installed a regular grip. If I want to remove it, I have to remove the grip, but I love the feel of it and it will probably stay there permanently.

If you're putting a grip over it, consider using a $3 clevis pin - I think I have a 1/2" wide 2 1/2" long clevis pin in the back of my putter (I don't remember how long it is) - I picked it up at lowes or home depot

a little bit of tape or something around it and it will fit in tight and not rattle
