my sister decided she would take up golf - she had a lesson or two as a kid but was never really serious about it and always used my clubs or my grandmother's clubs
she goes to a golf store and starts looking at clubs
the "pro" shows her some of the ladies clubs and takes a look and waggles a few of them....then comments "they feel kinda short - got anything longer? maybe a little heavier too?"
he tells her "clubs only come in one size." She makes a face at him and says, "so my 5'6" brother and my 6'6" boyfriend would use the same size clubs?" he responds "yes" and she says "that's ridiculous, I'll have to talk to him" and leaves
she came up to visit for easter and tells me the story - I decided I'd build her a set. she looks through a few catalogs and it should be be too hard to find heads/grips she likes
to pick a shaft I figured I'd need to watch her swing a few time with some of the stuff I had at home and measure swingspeed
I throw a few whiffle balls in the yard and set up the swingspeed radar/ tempo timer
her first swing with my 5 iron had a tempo of 1.0 and a speed of 83mph
then she did it again 3 more times.....
I told her to slow it down a little and not try to kill it - she says "OK, i'll try"
next three swings - tempo 1.1-1.2 swing speed 76-79mph
she swings basically just as hard as I do but her swing looks effortless
(she played competitive softball for years, but it hurts when your little sister can hit the ball as far as you can)
I probably should have just given her my bag and sent her home....
if she starts practicing, I think i'm in trouble
her 36" WTF made the "standard ladies" clubs feel a bit short - go figure
