If you use the acid (pickling) method made sure you "bake" them for a couple hours at 300º F afterwards or you'll have "hydrogen embrittlement" and you know what the term "embrittlement" means. A safer way is to just sand blast them lightly.

Hey, those are Apex IIs!!! I have a set of those that have been badly worn, all except for the 2 & 3 irons.

I'm thinking of using them for my TLT experiment as well, if I can come up with the scratch for regrooving and rechroming.

Why waste money on re-chroming and re-grooving when you could just buy another set of Hogans and have them TLT'd?

When a set wears out, it wears out. Just put them out of their misery and move on.

If the steel is in good shape & there isn't too much rust under the chrome, Get some Naval Jelly or something called Flitz, clean the rust off & you'll be good to go.
