New Gap wedge.

I pulled the trigger on a new Sonartec gap wege. My KZG forged gap wedge is pretty well worn and I've not bought a new club all week. Great service from him as well, it's the same fella IG got his wedge from (I think). I emailed him asking if he had a T35 Gap wedge as he only had 56 & 60 listed. He replied saying he only had the new T46 gap wedge and would do one for £55 inc postage (only a fiver more than the T35's). I only emailed him about an hour ago and it's in the post already on Special Delivery so will be here in the morning

Here's the picture and spec. I will do a review of this club in the next few weeks.

Constant radius transition of mass helps position more muscle mass behind the ball and gives a more solid feel at impact, all resulting in accuracy & control.
Milled Face & "Yo-Yo Grooves ™"
  • Added control attributable to increased face texture
  • Maximum spin for tour performance
Forged 8620-carbon steel produces a soft feel with less vibration
Brushed Black Nickel finish lessens glare
Traditional forged wedge design
Multi-Grind Sole
  • Allows for greater manipulation of club face for a variety of shots
  • Medium bounce and narrow sole
  • Trailing leading edge and heel grind allows the leading edge to be flush with turf minimizing thin shots while also maximizing trapping ability
  • Ideal for all types of shot-making styles and turf conditions

We'll see but I can't promise anything .

I really am trying to have a settled bag for this season. I'm off 7 and thats changing clubs every couple of weeks, so if I settle on a bag I surely must improve?

Exactly, you will get so used to the club that you dont have to think as much about hitting the shot, just hit it.

Not always. There is a phenomenon called "the new club mentality". We tend to think positively when we have a new club. The new feel, the new look, the prospect it brings seems to give us that added boost of confidence that puts us over the top. We also have no bad memories with the club so we are starting with a clean slate. After a while this wears off and what was once "the best club I have ever owned" becomes a classified section buy of the week.

I find I don't ever get "used" to a club. It either works good right away or it doesn't. In other words.... 'ho away MG!!

I followed a Rotella tip and wrote down my goals for the year, and have started to really work on sticking to the plans I will put in place to achieve this, I genuinely believe my mental game really needs work, particularly on the greens. I have compartmentalised my game and come up with my own personal plan, one of the main goals is to keep with my own gear unless a clear PROBLEM requires addressing, and my pro advises me accordingly.

And then I click a link for a new shaft and buy it instantly. FFS.

This didnt occur with me. Although it might have been caused by me getting the shanks right, and I mean right, when I moved from my big bertha irons to my bridgestones. However, I eventually got over that and now love these irons

Dusty,

It could very well work both ways. You had big game improvement irons and switched over to a players club. There easily could have been a little voice in the back of your head telling you this is never going to work. So instead of a "honeymoon" you needed a while to convince yourself this wasnt really the case. The mind is powerful thing, sometimes its does us wonders, other times it is a vengeful as a scorn ex girlfriend.
